    One fish or two fish

Fishing off the back of the boat in the marina in San Diego. My wife caught a fish with a piece of a hot dog. Well it swallowed the hook and it was kill it or cut the line. I cut the line. About 45 minutes later she caught another fish. Well the same fish because it still had the hotdog in it's mouth. Does that count as catching two fish or one fish? We have $50 going between three of us on who will catch the most.
It wasn't a red fish or a blue fish. It was one fish or two fish.
    What's the verdict?

I say it counts as one. If you caught it and kept it you could not have caught it again. If I tried to take the hook out and it died you could not have caught it again. Plus it's the same fish. Unless your Jesus you can't make one fish into more fish

give a woman a fish and she will eat for a day, teach a woman to fish and she will catch the same fish over and over again.

Impossible to answer, fish is singular and plural, just tell her she is right so you don't have to sleep on the couch. That's worth $50 right there.

in fishing, it's referred to as a stringer. unless your talking about the hook inserted directly into the stomach?
