    Off Camber...RIP

Somehow the thread lamenting the loss of a favorite snack cracker has gone political, lead by folks that lack enough sense to understand absurd satire when it slaps them in the face.

Well my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

Which thread Mojo? The OC has changed substantially, there are a number of people here now that have zero sense of humour, let alone the special kind of humour that thrived here in days of old. Kind of disappointing if you ask me.

Some people just love to argue, like that will solve anything.

Humor is what we need, in Spanish but even Korn can translate it.

I haven't looked at it lately. While I agree that certain people are taking the OCC in bad directions and I don't think the OP meant it to be, the starting of that thread seemed a little insensitive in playing off a thread Harold started regarding an acquaintance who was found dead in a ditch.
This post is a natural product. Variances in spelling & grammar should be appreciated as part of its character & beauty.

    Sarcasm is lost online.

    Doubly so.

Add to the mix, extreme boredom and perhaps staying at home and not socializing with family, friends and neighbors whether it be Zoom or Facetime. Online forum is better no. Sarcasm is lost. Hence triscuits and peanut butter is a good mix.

but in a time of yore, folks had an expectation that if a comment was posted in the OC then it was sarcastic, irreverent, in bad taste, or just plain funny and responded accordingly. This seems to be lost of several people.

I try to give a lot of the stuff posted in here more leeway than in other serious sub-forums.

There is IMO a grey area where politics/religion/banter can happen here where it can't anywhere else, and members can let off steam (that's the name of my sex tape).

Problem is (as a Mod) I know there are trigger words that are just going to send any thread into a downward spiral (e-bike for example). The other ones should be obvious as well.

Invariably these can and have lead to cyber-stalking and threats of physical violence, and not just in this dirty hole, it's in other holes as well (the name of my second sex tape).

So personally, and especially in OC I try to cut some slack on posts but too often posters react badly to the trigger words and the posts need to be deleted or threads closed or timeouts given.

Now I'm going to go back to watching more "99", please resume your regular noise-making (the name of my third and final sex tape).

By all means, if it remains in the realm of reasonable "polite" argument that's fine, but if you see my example below (because I know people who believe this stuff) you'll see the problems mods/admins have to deal with whenever political or religious topics come up.

[example]But your google search is just you buying into media manipulation and mindlessly believing what the illuminati / 1% want you to believe. They're shutting down the truth because it'll mean they lose control[/example]

It was more of a joke on my part but I definitely agree. Anything can be spun around in circles with no end in sight. Except for flat Earthers, they believe there is an end in sight but it's protected by an icewall and the government.

Did this once in the 80s. Didn't mean to. Those were the days of super weight weenie trailblazing when lots of gear just broke! (Snapped 2 pairs of Cook Bros cranks back then). Seatpost snapped on a short DH section, and I tore meself a second bum'ole! Not pleasant as I had to ride maybe 5 miles home...

I've restrained myself from engaging in any political statements here. It's been hard to do though.

Unfortunately, I've been too stressed out and feeling crappy to engage in my usual level of silliness on here. Thankfully, we have Scott O to fill that role nicely.
