Cool-blue Rhythm The O.C. Name game / Optimus "yellow Jeep" vanity plate ideas...

Yes this thread is dedicated to one of the O.C.'s most respected members Mr. Optimus. As most of you know he recently had the joy of purchasing a new off road toy. A 2004' JEEP RUBICON which he plans on doing some fun back country adventures in. He bought it used so he wasn't able to pick out the color of his choice and ended up with a bright yellow one. Which in my opinion for a Jeep is spot on. I think bright colors on Jeeps are great and yellow is at the top IMO for bright colors. Anyway I think his Jeep needs a vanity plate and my choice is "OLD YELLER" but it needs to be shortened to 7 characters so it would be

    "OLYELER"

What's your opinion on this name and post up any other good names of an ideal vanity plate for his new special rig.
Disclaimer: Optimus never agreed to a vanity plate. It is our duty to push it upon him.

Considering its a TJ, it's not old.

Old Yellow would only work on a CJ, preferably a 5 or a flatty.

Honestly, I'm so glad to be out of the Jeep club and I don't have to do that ghey little wave anymore.
I drive a Dodge truck. I don't have to wave at every other Dodge truck on the road. Why does every fagnut Jeep driver have to wave at each other?!? Eyes on the road. Hands on the wheel.

That's how Dodge truck drivers drive, huh? Do you have anything against steering with the hand that's holding the phone for texting while the other hand is holding a beer?

    Just did, unavailable.

DJ just gave me the heads up that this here thread was here, good stuff guys. I learned something new too, I now have to ghey wave at other Jeepers. I already ghey wave at all of the gheys, Mustangs, and Banshee riders, and now I have to do Jeeps too.

I've been out of the loop for a few days, got a busy spell again at work, dialing in a few new parts.

Can't be any worse than the Mustang that I revamped, the bikes that I build, or the kid in college. Gotta spend it on something, might as well be something enjoyable.

Just so you know where I came from with Jeeps, this was mine -

The O.C. Name game / Optimus "yellow Jeep" vanity plate ideas...-jeep-pics.jpg

I owned it for 15 years, taking it from a bone stock 1990 YJ with chrome glamour rings on the wheels, to the rock crawler beast you see here.
In the end, the only thing original was the frame, having survived a serious car accident, a blown engine, grenaded transmission, grenaded transfer case, and multiple rollovers off road. This thing wheeled everything in Arizona and northern California and is now enjoying life in Idaho.

Me thinks that Opti has been working so many hours that he's blessed in making it faster than he can spend it. No time to spend it.

Nice, looks like it was fun, and more than capable.

Fueled up today after running through my first full tank. 50/50 mix of 70mph highway and heavy stop and go city driving, 17.6 mpg. I was expecting a bit worse, I can live with 17.

Yeah 17's not going to kill you. Besides look at all the fun times ahead with that rig.

17? My TDI Touareg AWD gets that trailering most of the time. 32 to 35 on the interstate all day. Then again, my wheeling days ended when I sold my 87 Toyota 4x4 Xtra Cab with a topper a year. ago.

I'm sure you got some sick mods planned for that Jeep to make it rock crawler worthy.

Good friend of mine, Damian Smith, does lots of heavy Jeep mods in his shop here. Check this video out of some of the stuff they like to roll.

Yeah like leaving it stock so it keeps the gas mileage it has.

My Pathfinder got 17ish, for my typical day to day my Mustang gets 12ish, so yeah I can live with 17. 17mpg and the ability to drive pretty much anywhere I desire off road, or 12mpg and the ability to dust pretty much anything on the street, both fair trades in my book. If I was overly concerned with fuel economy I would obviously choose differently in my vehicles.

Contrary to popular belief I haven't been on the AZ. DMV site. But I can imagine how the majority of the ones we've offered up are taken. Arizona being a hotbed for 4x4 activity. And yellow jeeps.

Not Jeep realted, but I saw one the other night that I thought was good.
Small, flashy, fast looking, red car thatI pulled up behind at a stop light. It was dark and I had no idea what kind of car it was.
License plate read ZERO HC. I was thinking WTF? ZERO HC? Zero Hyrdrocarbon? Not from a car.
I squinted a bit to make out the emblem above the license plate - Tesla.

    OK, that makes sense.

As far as a sweet electric sportscar the Tesla is ranked up in the super car category along side Ferraris and so on...

I picked out a burnt orange / yellow one to match this thread.

Uploading some video. Went up mine searching on Four Peaks, wandered down a pretty rough trail, lots of off camber washout, lots of rock and steps. Through the worst of it I was in 4LO and fully locked diffs., Jeep ate it up with ease. Glad I added an oil pan skid plate though, I'd have smacked the pan pretty hard. First day out, I'm now looking at lift kits, I need more clearance, bigger tires. Stock Rubicon suspension is too damn stiff off road too. I really liked the Old Man Emu suspension that I had in my Pathfinder, I'm leaning heavily toward putting the same in the Jeep.

Yep it can drive under water like a James Bond Jeep.

Years ago as a teenager I bought a bad ass BaJa Bug and it had a stinger. I thought it was ugly so immediately tore it off. Now it's a common after market 4x4 item. Who knew!

    10-22 or 10TWNTY2

It's police/ems/fire radio code for disregard. I want my wife who's a police officer to get it for her yellow Jetta but she won't bite.

Although over the years I have heard of off road 4X4 companies using the name and I always wondered if they saw my use of it on this site and stole it. Bastards!

Well Opti I've got insomnia and its 3 a.m. laying in bed and for some reason your plate popped in my head. This one kind of goes back to the beginning of this thread but slightly altered.

I'm thinking that my son just has me pegged as a dork, period. The name is in this thread, and it was one of my suggestions that was never even really responded to. Personally, I think that it is perfect, it's socially and politically acceptable, and Mrs O even kind of likes it. And it's not yellowsub. Better than that.

Ha,ha let the guessing game begin. Another clue like who came up with it in this thread. And does Mrs O know she has that nickname.

So 4-6 weeks of tossing and turning, tossing and turning. By that time i'll look like an old man losing all that sleep. Save my health and give up the name early.

Who knows. Maybe the boys won't be much in the mood for a moldy bologna sandwich, and will get right to work on it for me. But I'll text you a pic of it, you'll still be the first.

It will probably be a bit anti-climatic though, and surely won't live up to the hype. DJ will probably echo my son and call me a dork.

FP there's some good ones in there although you're a bit late to the party. Opti already ordered a plate and its on its way. Our job now is to guess what he chose before the unveiling.

Yeah, I know. But if anyone else is getting a yellow Jeep because of this thread, they'll have more options.

I don't doubt this one bit. Just as everybody will flock to your posts FP, and run your page counts way high, surely everybody who wants to be anybody will now be shopping for a yellow Jeep. They will become a hot commodity in no time for sure, a guaranteed way to increase your personal wealth even. There will surely be a reality show, Flip this Jeep.

Oh, they're probably getting busy alright. What else is there to do in prison? Make license plates, or drop the soap.

It'll be kind of contradictory once I get it lifted and put some 33's on it. I like contradiction, it's kind of like resistance or rebelliousness, kind of wiseass. You can never have too much wiseass.

True and when its all big ass and lifted the contradictory plates will give it even more personality.

Oh and the LIL Pony plates are reserved for your mustang.

Nice! Looking forward to the final build photos. But are they ever really done but more of a work in progress. My little TJ is growing up.

I learned from doing my car 2 1/2 times to just slow down, do your research, and do it the way you want the first time. When it's done, it should pretty much be done. Except for fixing whatever I will break.

Be sure to consult with your little TJ before dressing her in her final high heels and push up bra.

You most certainly can. We'll get some Subway and take it out for a day where it can really work.

I'm going to do the lift over the next couple of weeks, then drive it for a bit and let it settle before I decide on final tire size. I'm leaning though toward 32x11.5x15. 15" are substantially cheaper than the same diameter in 16", 15's give you a little more sidewall for airing down, 1 1/4" less back spacing- going up 2 1/2 so I'm going out 2 1/2. Kevlar sidewalls so I can get away with a C load range. Should ride pretty nice. Going with a cushy Old Man Emu suspension.

I just saw this Jeep and I thought of you Opti. I took some photos just to give you some ideas for your build. On a side note a vision of Beauty jumped out of it.
