kings in the west. no question. took out the canucks in 5 and the blues in 4. both those teams were favored to take it all. quick is amazing. in the east i gotta say rangers. kings will take it all though in 6.

This year i finally found a site where i can watch all the playoff games. As a non-cable person I was pretty much stuck with the NBC Game of the Week and usually the last 5 games of the Cup. This year i have a watched a lot of the playoffs live and I will get to see all the Cup games!

Pretty excited about that. The internet making things free since Al Gore.

they only stream them live but I have watched a lot of stuff through here. They are mostly lower resolutions and occasionally they are in different languages like F1 coverage but they are there.

I go away for the weekend and there is an epic game 7 for the semi's. Looks like the Devils are gonna be facing the kings. I am a huge Brodeur fan so I am glad the Devils overcame the Ranger.

Let the Cup begin and I hope it goes 7 games!

I'd like to see the Devils take it so the the Wild have a shot at bringing Parise back home. If the Devils do not win it this year, I'd say Zack stays.

I have no horse in this cup, well pretty much any cup but the coyotes were a pleasant surprise as a AZ resident. All want is some epic hockey to keep me happy until next years playoffs.

As a Flyers fan (Yeah, I know. You all hate me now.) I'm gonna have to go with the Devils. Not because they beat the Flyers-quite soundly-because losing to the eventual champion is still losing, and not because I'd hate to see Carter and Richards (or Blondie and Fat Boy) hoist the chalice-which I would hate. But because I've been watching Marty for what seems like forever and have a ton of respect for his accomplishments. If this is to be his last rodeo, I'd like to see him go out a Champion. I think they've come around to playing the orginizational system again and I feel their veteran experience will overcome the Kings "youthful" abandon. Though I admit that I have enjoyed watching the Kings just plow through the West. Who ever tells you they saw THAT coming is lying.

    I feel sad for LA.

They are going to go down in history for winning the cup during the worst officiated playoffs in the history of the game. Not just in the SCF, but the WHOLE playoffs saw numerous instances of piss-poor officiating. It almost seemed like common occurance, that REAL penalties were NOT called, and things that should NOT have been a penalty, were called.

Good for LA... they worked hard to get there so hey, bad calls happen and throughout the playoffs they were on both sides of many games. Definitely the highest frequency of awful ones than I can recall in the past. Too bad for NJ that LA didn't get called for a penalty right before the 5 min on NJ that sealed their fate. Still amazes me that teams today can come back from 0-3 and come very close to getting to a game 7!

Probably the worst non-call of all during the entire season was Clowe redirecting the puck from the effing BENCH! They should have taken a hammer to his knuckles for that one. Had he not done that, San Jose and LA would have played in the 1st round under an unbelievable set of crazy if's and's and but's.

I wish there weren't so many daggone commercials and Doc would stop with all the BS knifing, swaggering, spiriting, active sticking, rattling... horse hockey drivel that spews from his pie/cake hole non-stop during the games. Of all the regular season announcers, I like Craig Laughlin and Joe Beninati the best (followed by the guys in Boston).

That aside, did you not want the Kings to win it all? Did they not have a great season? Did they not ultimately earn their reward?

poor calls or not i dont think there was too much question the kings were the best team in the nhl this year. if you take out the #1 seed in 5 and sweep the #2 seed you must be doing something right.

Fixed and agreed. They were flat-out dominant. Team played their system to a "T" and Quick was otherworldly. Is that what a top-flight goaltender looks like? As much as I had been wanting to see Marty get one more, I have to give the Kings (Yes, Richards and Carter too) alot of respect. A 16-4 run at any point in the season is impressive. But in the playoffs?!?!?!?!?!?! Jeez................

    Congrats, Kings.

Well it is back, regular season of 48 games. Watch part of the Kings game yesterday. That was a sad first period. Everyone was skating like they had sand in their legs and forgot how to play the game. The Philly/Penguins game was a lot better in the third.

What is this NHL you speak of?

Actually I'm liking the idea of a 48 game season-games should be a bit more exciting. Short and to the point, playoffs will be here before you know it.

Can't even be bothered to watch. I spent "opening night" watching the Barrett-Jackson auction instead.

If I really feel the need I'll continue to watch the CHL - always have liked the Juniors better.

Henrik Lundqvist had one of the more clutch (and acrobatic) saves I've seen in awhile to send the Rangers to the Stanley Cup. Well played.

Wow, what a run. They came back 0-3 to the sharks and now held on for a game 7 OT win at Chicago. I think this should be a great Stanley Cup. Rangers haven't been there for awhile and they had their own drama. I'm looking forward to the Stanley Cup this year for sure.

Next season... I want to see much more from the sharks, and less of a disaster from the islanders. The Rangers have had a tough few games. LA is going to take it, though it would be nice for them to lose the cup like they won the first round.

Well. I like a bunch of teams anyway. Not Vancouver though.definitely not that team with that bratty Russian kid, Edmonton. Speaking of Russians, don't like Ovies team either. But the rest, I can deal. Except for Dallas...and Pittsburgh....

They have a lot of great seasons winning the presidents trophy a few years ago. They need a sports shrink and stop worrying so much.

I actually don't mind how they did. I just feel bad for Danny Boyle. He was never the same after the Maxime hit and now his career may be at an end.

Yeah he's in limbo now.. I guess the islanders thing isn't happening. I hope they don't do anything stupid with Pavelski, that dude has so much heart. How many times did he carry that team when nobody else was stepping up.

Speaking of the islanders, they really need to get their **** together, they have been such an embarrassment.

I group the Oilers right in there with the Isles. But the Oilers should really have their franchise revoked.. They are just handing out points to the lucky teams who get to stomp them lol

Well look what I found.... A Hockey thread.
I love watching Hockey and am a STH for our local Major Junior team. My wife and I really enjoy watching the boys come up through the ranks and make it to the big show.

Watching the Penns as they stole our coach. He turned our program around.

Favorites are Blackhawks, Kings, Bruins and Sharks and Preds.

Pretty great that there's some teams in this year that you don't consider automatic playoff teams. Calgary, islanders, minn, and even though they're legit this year, I don't think of the Rangers as a team that was going to oust the pens. And the sens playing habs! Great matchup. I wish Nashville won.

Minnesota will not get past Chicago. Capitals fail to get past the Rangers. Hawks Rangers in the final. GO HAWKS!

Either way is good for me.
Nini and Mathew played for our local team and it is awesome to watch them as impact players in the big show. That said, Kane is back and the Wild will not get past them.
