Col. Jessup: [from the witness stand] *You can't handle the truth!*
    [pauses]

Col. Jessup: [from the witness stand] Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

We used to root for the Indians against the cavalry, because we didn't think it was fair in the history books that when the cavalry won it was a great victory, and when the Indians won it was a massacre. ~Dick Gregory

Oh, God. The Sixties are coming back. Well I've got a 12-gauge double-barreled duck gun chambered for three-inch Magnum shells. And - speaking strictly for this retired hippie and former pinko beatnik - if the Sixties head my way, they won't get past the porch steps. They will be history. Which, for chrissakes, is what they're supposed to be. ~P.J. O'Rourke

So, those are food for thought, but there is also this web article that I came across when looking at some quotes attributed to Mark Twain when I read the Bertrand Russell quote posted above. I could've sworn I saw it said similarly by Twain at one point...

10 Things Mark Twain Didn't Really Say | Mental Floss

Final quote note, imagine extraordinary as being said by the bad guy Han in Enter The Dragon. Always cracks me up for some reason... like it should have been a moment in Wayne's World or something.

Don't have to hit me in the head with no tire tool twice, some movie.
On manhattans( the drink) 1 is good, 2 is OK, more than 3 is usually a really bad idea. Said by me.
Said by many( army?) Prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance. My daughter quoting me. On her second teaching interview to beat out 65 other people for that job, nice.
Free is good, said by me.
Do you see white spots or black spots? Said by my mt bike friend Dan. After a nasty red line climb for 1/2 an hour. I said white. He said go over there and sit down. Black means you are about to pass out, look for less rocks to crash on.

That was a good one although the "Best in Post" challenge per day is only for posts in the OC. There's a thread here abouts if you are interested in nominating yourself for a post in the OC. On any day, from this day forward.

I left the rules fairly vague, so you're fine. And nothing wrong with looking bad in the OC, we all do it from time to time.

I'm behind on my reading but seen a few comical realities stated in Car & Driver from Aug 2017 regarding a long-term Camaro feature.

"Buying a Camaro and then griping about back-seat space is like going to a NASCAR race and bitching about the wine."

"But small-item storage is a weakness. The pockets housed in the rearmost portion of the coupe’s enormous doors are so puny and poorly placed that they can only be filled with irony."
