Music: You appreciate their talent, but just can't get into them

Not to be confused with this thread, there's a difference

    Rush

Some of the other music threads got me thinking...I've tried to like these guys. Unbelievably big sound coming from three guys. And Neil Peart is right there with John Bonham and Keith Moon as the greatest drummers ever.... But I just can't get into them. I think it's the lyrics and Geddy Lee's nasally voice.

I love 70's prog rock (Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, ELP, etc) & rock music with jazz elements like Steely Dan but just cant get jazz.

There are probably a lot of people with you on this one.

I would add The Mars Volta. I love lots of parts of their songs, but just can't seem to get into them as a whole. They are without a doubt talented, and I have several friends who are fans

He said appreciate their talent. 99% of the people on american idol as there because they make the teenage girl demographic swoon, definitely not based on talent. Those with talent almost invariably get voted off early because teenbeat doesn't write about them.

That show makes me wretch, it is everything that is wrong with mainstream everything.

Sorry rant over and wrong thread.

Jethro Tull was mine. Until I saw them live I didn't
realize how good they really were.

Just went and listened to a couple songs by Grizzly Bear on YouTube...torture. Not sure who says they are "the most talented band out there", but I agree, "not for me". The have some talent when it comes to making obscure videos though.

Others for me (talented, just not into 'em): Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Doors. I like a couple songs by each but generally not my thing.
