MUSIC: -Songs you're Embarrased to Like

This thread should be pretty fun.

What's your 'dark-secrets' that you rock out to when no one else is around?

I'll start with a couple (more maybe later)

    Abba - Dancing Queen
    <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xFrGuyw1V8s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian
    <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cjI4p8_NZVc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
    Honestly... ahh I give up

sigh...i've always liked "rawk" music, but sometimes i'll randomly like a newer rap song....an occasional lil wayne song, or rhianna. I guess the wayne stuff is more embarrassing. Sorry, his voice amuses me!

I'm not embarrassed to like any music/artist. If I like it, why should I care what anyone else thinks? I get down with Lil' Wayne. His albums are good but the mixtapes are almost always better.

well I was kinda wondering about the wording of 'embarrassed' vs. a long explanation for the title...
    got any Ideas?
I'll change it ... as I too am not really 'embarrassed'' either

Well I can understand turning down that first one, but the others?

Music I listen to that go against the general trend:

Country music (not so popular in these parts)
    REO Speedwagon
    Alphaville
    The Bangles.
I think "Eternal Flame" might be the best song ever written. (Written by Prince though I think) Van Halen's "Jump" gets honorable mention and is the perfect way to finish off any road trip.

Music my wife makes me turn off:
    Portishead

Music I make my wife turn off:
    Foreigner.

Music I will never willingly listen to.
    Katy Perry
    Lady Gaga.

Big fan of The Guess Who which I see no shame in but my kids tease me for liking a song about a Werewolf with the clap. Go figure.

like a few gaga songs. guilty. as for some of the newer rap....most of it is about ballin' and 'makin it rain' and poppin da crys....which pisses me off, but man, i love a good beat!

LMFAO gets honorable mention. stupid as hell, but catchy. thats the point i guess.

Highdelll: I see what you're saying. I guess embarassed is easier than "stuff that most people snicker at because they feel insecure with their taste in music."

Back on topic: I love me some Justin Timberlake. **** the haters. George Jones is up there. Luckily I dodged a disco bullet and don't like any of that rubbish. I used to be all about gutter punk and oi. That's a little "embarrassing" I guess; still like some of it.

Nailed it. Would I sound like a ******-nozzle hipster if I said I like it before the movie? Probably. Would saying I used to ride around when I had a car with these on blast?

Hey, I have a couple Limp Bizkit songs on my iPod. I can pedal the hell out of a trainer to "Break Stuff". Sets a nice cadence. I guess sometimes a nice angry song helps mash out some aggression.

Probably my "embarrasing" set (although I really don't care) is the old KISS songs. I used to be a huge KISS fan. I hear some of that crap come on and I know every word. I realize its not even quality music, but hey, I used to like watching Batman too and that show is horrible.

Then of course, I could be singing at the top of my lungs to "Roxanne" by the Police.

Back on topic: I love me some Justin Timberlake. **** the haters. George Jones is up there. Luckily I dodged a disco bullet and don't like any of that rubbish. I used to be all about gutter punk and oi. That's a little "embarrassing" I guess; still like some of it.

Was playing this at work today, people thought I was listening to
Joe Satriani. My daughter and I love this guy.
Then I was asked ' Where are the lyrics?"

"Supertramp-take a look at my girlfriend" is wrong, thats why you cant find it.

The name of the song is "Breakfast In America" and the album is there sixth album also of the same name.

    Hope that helps.

Marilyn Manson=not goth. He's more Industrial Shock Metal. Bau Haus is goth rock. I like Manson. I minored in obsessed in middle school. He's smart and can put a really different perspective on different highly contraversial topics; I respect that.

yeah, i think i was just a wannabe goth....in "style" (black clothes, army stuff, chains, ya know). the blonde hair deducted the shock value though.

i found i preferred Manson when he was more "crusty" and scary, not so much the poppy glam that eventually happened....maybe i dont know what i'm talking about!

I've been on the trail, singing this to myself:

That I dug my key into the side of his
pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats...
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...

    Anything by KISS.

Actually, I love 80's hairband and used to feel judged by the faith-based community I hang out with often, like I was going to hell for listening to it, buying their music, all that rot. Now, I DGAF what anyone thinks and listen loud and proud when I can. I'm going to hell.

I'm an online bf to a gay dude in New Haven, CT. I'm straight and married.

This is my life. OH! speaking of which... this song gets me fist pumping.

Dude, Duran Duran is awesome! Nothing embarrassing about that. My iPod is loaded with all sorts of stuff-old school thrash to AKUS, Zeppelin to Cirque de Soleil soundtracks, Weather Report to Adele. Nothing I'm ashamed to listen to as long as it does what I want- entertain or move me. And NONE of it gets turned down at a red light.

I'm obviously into all sorts of music, but it's amusing when at work (part time at a grocery store) I find myself singing along to songs that, well, don't exactly fit in with my personality. Customers get a kick out of it, though.

Ha! All kinds of stuff that may seep into the car radio (not that it's ever on all that much) and gets immediately squashed at stop lights.

    Duran Duran - Ordinary World
    Madonna - That country song
The Bangles I put up with back in the 80's only because Susanna Hoffs was so hot.
Weird Al Yankovic - Living with a Hernia

Most embarrassing corny music moment ever: Getting out of the shower before a Tool/Meshuggah show and having Abba blasting in the house only to realize that my buddies had let themselves in and were having a good chuckle at my expense.

There should be a spinoff thread of mis-sang (sung?) lyrics, cause thats just hilarious.

I thought Elton John's "hold me close my tiny dancer" was "hold me close I'm Tony Danza"

And CCR's "there's a bad moon on the rise" was "there's a bathroom on the right"

Christopher Cross. Moon Over New York City.
    Sheena Easton. 9 to 5
    Juice Newton. Queen of Hearts
The Manhattan Transfer. Boy From New York City (not really embarrassed about that one)
Madonna. Holiday and Borderline. Pure pop goodness from my growing up days.
Olivia Newton John. Magic. God she was hot.!
Micheal Jackson. Billy Jean and Say Say Say
MJ and Paul M. Ebony and Ivory. Actually a very good song and it's hard to ever be embarrassed by Paul M, but if there was ever the opportunity that was it.
Jackson 5. ABC. Love that song but never, never, never is it to be listened to it with the windows down.
    Ice-T. Colors
Public Enemy. Fight the Power. Great song but I'm white. Enough said.
Digital Underground. Humpty Dance. I think that song was for white people only so I'm ok on this one.

OMD. If You Leave. Ahh, memories of what turned out to be my cheating crappy girlfriend who I thought I loved. DAMN you girl who shall remain nameless!!! I can still clearly recall (before we hooked up) her sitting on my lap in her friends MG Midget while we drove across town wearing a skirt that came up above the knees. I thought I was going to lose my dignity right then and there...but I digress.

Ok, I guess I will be the first to admitting the one song WE all crank up in our cars and turn it down at a light! And if you say you don't like it, you're lying!

I know you're turning it up!!

This has to be my favorite.Weather or not I'm "embarrassed" by it depends on when it's playing.I realty don't care what people think most of the time, especially at work on a construction site.I can go on all day..."Schau"...Schau"...Schau"

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_w4Xulsjo5I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I may even try to get the German lyrics down at some point.

I don't listen to it while ridding but I do like (and sing along to) "we belong together" by Mariah Carey.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida takes me somewhere that makes me DGAF, love it!

My head-hangers are (artists, not so much specific songs): Beastie Boys, Alanis Morrissette (JLP album), and The Beach Boys.

Pretty much anything else, either I like it or I don't, and F who disagrees. If a music piece gives me some enjoyment, it's good. I will listen to Diana Ross & the Supremes at a high volume!
