I consider myself a fairly good chest player. I could play with a nice chest for hours.

What? Opening and closing the drawers over and over? Sounds boring.

You're right. OC posts don't count towards total post counts.

Which ponders the question. How did he get a green chicklet with just one post in the OC? Knowing the OC is off limits for repping.

That was a horrible game. Black played the Queen's Gambit accepted and then he plays ...f5 trying to mix that and a Dutch Defence. That led to checkmate in like 5 moves. When you play a light-squared pawn defense you have to keep f7 pawn there and play e6. If you play f5 you have to keep a pawn on d5. Otherwise there are checkmate threats on f7, that is the first thing you learn when you lose. Yes there is an exception in the Dutch Defense where you can play f5 and d6 but you must still play e6 and castle kingside ASAP, then play Kh8 to get of of the b2/g8 diagonal that White's light-squared bishop may be on. I don't like that defense at all, it's inferior.

As for being beautiful, the problem is that she would probably move on to the next guy after you secured a Green Card for her, I've seen it happen. At my former club there was a blonde Russian girl that played a couple of times, early 20's. Some older guy said we should give all females a discount just to have them come to play more often. I said no, no one should be given a discount for playing, we should keep all prices equal and treat everyone equal for playing, besides their actual chess rating. (I don't think that I was on the board at that time, not that the board ever did anything useful). We already gave a military discount and a discount for Mexican nationals coming up from across the border. Then the masters wanted a discount because they brought prestige to the club. Then the Filipino nationals wanted a discount because the Mexican nationals had one. When will it end? Yes, it's nice to have females playing chess but just treat them just like any other player.

The original post. Foreigners want US Citizenship. Guy falls for beautiful girl. Girl gets Green Card, dumps guy. Now maybe that would not happen in this case but it's happened many times. But it can be the other way around too. I once worked with a couple (who fought all the time), he was a British National and she was Filipina-American but was a US Citizen. They got a divorce exactly 5 years into the marriage, just so we could keep his US residency here. That was nice of her.

Man, I must be really out of it. I watch the video, and see some chik smoke some dude at a game of chess. Is chess playing some kind of code for mail-order-bride?

Its reaaaaalllllll subtle. You have to watch the video again, but this time turn off the audio, close your eyes and imagine you're watching something else totally unrelated to the chess video.

Even more baffling - people pay to play chess?
And pay enough that international/"prestige" issues develop regarding discount levels?
    That's pretty screwy.

Imagine the kind of person that demands a discount because of their board game 'prestige'. Sounds like the perfect candidate to be taken by a mail-order bride.

Being a chess player on occasion I can picture this addiction. To that level not so much.

But if they're there to compete in the wet t-shirt contest at half time, they should get a discount.

I'm just confused on what exactly they're paying for.

I get paying for say, ice time at a hockey rink or something along those llines. Don't think I'd pay someone to use their chess board though. Pretty sure I could come up with one of my own.
