The most annoying or ridiculous names

I just watched an interview where the guy's name was literally Christmas. Up until very recently I had a neighbor whose name was Justice. This kid was 100% responsible for millennials having a bad reputation. Tool factor, infinity. When I learned of his name I started calling him Justin, you know... just because.

Qoes this thread make me an asshole?
A:No. I was already an asshole.

    Whadda you got?

Not really annoying, but "Mookie Betts" has to be the most baseball sounding name since Dizzy Dean.

What about “unique” spellings of regular names?

I have a neighbor named Mackynze. (McKenzie).

Tangentially, I would never live on a street called Roxburghe.

"Can you spell that for me?" (for the 8 millionth time)

    "Um... no."

PS - Also, I will never move to Hadcock Rd. either.

Tough to have the name "Karen" in this day and age.

My company just acquired a company and one of the transition managers from the acquired company is named "Karen." She is an experienced, well respected employee, but every time her name is mentioned, people laugh.

    Wife wasn't having it.

Having worked in public ed for many a year, I've come across numerous unusual names. The difficult I encountered was trying to pronounce them correctly when calling home.

That is exactly what I said. C'mon, you know the difference between the joke behind those made up names. This isn't even some SJW bullshit it's just the basic etymology of a joke.

I had a math TA in college named Will Haight.

It's interesting when you think about where surnames come from. I used to work with a Boozer and a Drinko. I"m not sure if they hung out together or not.

I knew someone who moved to the US from China. He chose a new name that we could pronounce easier. He chose Gumbo Wang. In middle school we had a substitute teacher named Mrs. Boner. It was great when they called her on the intercom.

I had a friend in high school who's parents named him Justin and his sister Sue. Their last name was Case. Mr Case was a teacher there.

I was up in Seattle in the hotel lobby and I guy was checking in. His last name was Crabbs. My 7yo nephew couldn't stop laughing.

I can't stand my nephews name, Aiden. goes along with kaiden, jaiden, hayden and so on. half of his class is a similar name. it was like everyone named their kid the same name that year.

My wife used to work in a school district, still does actually, that was in a really poverty ridden area.

Two names that come to mind are

Shithead, not joking, pronounced shith heed.

Another was "Baby Girl" as in no name on the birth certificate, so it just stuck.

Poor kids....in more ways than one.

There are countless other crazy ones but those are the top two that have stuck with me.

I have encountered two girls with the name Shithead. They both pronounced it chi-THADE.

Then there was the woman who named her three kids after the most important things in her life -- Jack Daniels, Harley Davidson, and Cocaine. After CPS took the kids they were renamed, Jack, Harley, and Kane.

Then the gen Z couple that wanted their kids to grow up with their own identity, so two kids each had a different surname from their parents and each other...
Do not take anything I post seriously. I don't.

Long Duk Dong is from 16 Candles

I don't really "hate" any of these names, but the kids all definitely act a certain "way" that makes it hard to like them...

    we have a lot of "LL Bean Catalog" names at my (really affluent) middle school: Hunter; Forest; Lake (girl); Tanner (boy and girl); Griffin; Gunnar; Brooke;

too many of the "ayden" ending names...that was definitely the name of the early 2000's

    I have had 2 Seven's;

Finster (which always reminded me of the old Bugs bunny cartoons)

also have had Star (girl); Venus (girl); Apollo (boy)

a kid who just went on to the high school whose name is Sonny Day...no joking

a brother and sister who were named "Boomer" (brother) and MK (sister) officially on their birth certificate...

I almost ended up being Lief Per Swanson...which I would not have minded now, but as a kid, I would have been dead meat on the playground. Per is pronounced "pear"...it is Peter in Swedish.

I had a colleague named Per, from Sweden. When we'd go out to coffee, if he was asked for his name for the order, he'd just say "Axel." More servers would ask him to spell "Per" than "Axel" (although usually the drink cup came back with "Axle").

    Don't forget Coco Crisp.

At University of TN, we had a third string QB Jim-Bob Cooter. (Third string behind Peyton Manning then Todd Helton). I always wanted Jim-Bob to make it big, to stereotype us folks. Last I heard was the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.

I've known that since the mid 80s because of Per Welinder of the Bones Brigade.

OK, this isn't a joke. In all honesty, my niece's names are:
    Naiya Binghi Truth Shining,
    and
Nova (never used the brain cells to remember the rest - but I bet its really something).
No kidding, not at all. Not even in the slightest.
I would advise not taking my advice.

All this and no mention of Dick Pound?!

Not sure if it's a total power move voluntarily going from Richard to Dick with a surname like Pound, or just totally oblivious to any connotations....

I'm not making fun of Yancey Thigpen, or his name. But that would've been a very unusual name for anyone in my school growing up. I was thinking he got into a lot of fights as a kid, but maybe after the first time he kicked some kid's a$$ they probably decided he was cool. So, not many fights.

Another was "Baby Girl" as in no name on the birth certificate, so it just stuck.

Poor kids....in more ways than one.

There are countless other crazy ones but those are the top two that have stuck with me.
Shi-thead must be a popular name, I knew a nurse in Georgia with that name as well.

Wow, more popular than I thought. 3 other instances of that in just this thread.

    Some other names:

My grandfather's name was Ewald Zoeller. Zoeller/Zoller is not that uncommon necessarily but have never encountered anyone else with his first name.

My wife's grandmother was Nievesita, another Ive never heard.

Read a news story once of a man with the last name Pigg who named his daughters Ima and Ura. Don't know if it was true or not. A friend of mine in the Marines had that last name as well.

Remember a newspaper article touting a man that passed away named Elmer Peed. Apparently ridiculed his entire life.

In today's time, it would now be Dick Hashtag, lol. My daughter had to explain to me what a hashtag was a couple years ago. I was like the pound sign on the phone and she says yeah that's a hashtag.

So a few months ago we're at a campus and they're advocating against date rape or something and here are all of us older guys just cracking up because there banner states, "Date rape affects everyone, # me too".

awesome scene!!! I use this quote with the drum line kids all the time. I always tell them that Caddyshack (and Spinal Tap and The Holy Grail) are mandatory watching to be part of the line....

we had a neighbor when i was younger whose name was Harold Dickensheets - Harry Dickensheets. He was sort of the neighborhood "loner" - the guy whose lawn you could not touch, or if your football went in his yard, you never saw it again. He had this really old lady caretaker who we all thought was a witch...he would chalk all the car tires in the neighborhood to make sure that they were not abandoned, and make sure that all of the trash cans were out on the correct day...

my mom had neighbors whose last name was Trees...
The boy was Douglas Fir and the girl was Glorious Pine. She went by Gloria....
