    I discovered something called "Tik-Tok"

Tonight on Entertainment Tonight (a regular chronicle of social evolution, I saw a snippet highlighting Reese Witherspoon and J Lo, and how they (and millions of others) interact with the world on Tik Tok). I'm ever more convinced that I'm from some other planet. Agree or disagree?

Okay, at least I'm not alone here. It is a feeling that I first got four years ago, while riding in Alaska with a woman from Switzerland and a guy from Australia. They made a point of taking posed pictures in front of the Denali National Park sign. But we didn't go inside the park. Instead, we spent the day in the nearby tourist village, walking around, checking out the T-shirt and homemade jewelry shops, and going to the coffee shop to post the pics on Facebook. And then checking on how many likes they had gotten, a few hours later. I couldn't believe it, but I had signed up for the pedaling.

Double OC rep for you, LMAO.

I have no idea what tic toc is (see I can't even spell it right), other than I've seen some people doing the "hand dance" thing. Apparently it's awesome though.

I love lots of stuff. This desire to get attention and be a focus of societal importance, that I do not love. I don't even understand the desire. Dogs love to get the attention of the people who feed them. I don't feed these people. Why do they vie for my (or anyone's) attention? Why do they care? Why do they think I (or anyone else) care? I think it's strange. Or, at least one of us is strange. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think you need to read one line of a comment, with the rest of the comment, to full understand that comment.

I could explain, but it probably wouldn't make any sense. I don't think that they bicycle. They're in the "entertainment" industry, apparently. Why were they on "Entertainment Tonight?" It's a mystery of modern society. People who are famous for being famous, I guess. And now we're back to feeling like we're from a different planet.

Kind of like Vine but in more of a dance/music vibe; it's an entertaining time suck in this era of lockdown.
The only important thing these days, is rhythm and melody. Rhythm...and melody.

I recognize that they have talent, but I don't know why I should care that they do. I see people with talent all the time. Most of them don't put videos of themselves on the internet.

The thing I don't understand is, why do they feel the need for approval from the masses of society? I neither approve nor disapprove of their videos. I simply have no interest.

I hear you. Itís part of their personality, I reckon, to be need to be seen. Part of what draws them to their career path. And Iíd imagine that thereís a whole mess of folks out there, who just love to see it. Sad, really.

J Lo is a good person. I worked with her for a year and she is a very hard working and talented singer/dancer/and actress. She is also a person who is very easy to get along with and very much down to earth. At one event we played, Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night, she performed for nothing and paid the band and dancers out of her own pocket. Several million bucks were raised for Ali's Parkinson's Center that does amazing work. That was just one thing...
If you got it, why not use it?

I saw that movie and Reese was great in that role. Yeah, she's a great actress, and likewise so is J Lo, notably in "Shall We Dance?" with Richard Gere. I'm sure they are both very nice humans.

But I'm still waiting to hear why Tik Tok exists.

I don't know the other guy. He's probably old, but I'm merely dead and immature for my age. He probably knows what he's doing, while I am merely stumbling from one day to the next. I somehow manage to recognize Thursday when it comes around, and roll the container out to the street.

But I've never had the urge to video my activities and post it on the inter web, even though it might provide entertainment for some Chinese intelligence analyst.

Although I'm a proud member of the 50+ forum, I also like tic tok, sure, there are some cringe-worthy girl/dance videos, but there are some genuinely good recipes/crafts/projects videos also.
