How many times do you push the cross walk button?

    I'm a 3 timer.

I have a single intersection I have to cross on my 1/4 mile commute to the trails in my 'hood and I always push that damn button 3 times. Even if I tell myself once is enough.

One.. I cross a street with a crosswalk on my way to the closest TH and there's a high up one for horses that I ride up to and push once then grab the pole to hold on while I wait. While walking I'm more of a two or three pusher.

There's one by my house that makes a cool noise when you push it, and I'll push it as many times as I care to till the walk sign comes on.

I'm basically a toddler when it comes to those things, so I'll stand there and push it repeatedly until the light changes. "Bing, ding-bing, ding-bing, ding..." etc.

    Lol, good question.

I usually try to make a rhythm out of it. I'm hoping that I can start a drum circle in the crosswalk, and all the cars will stop and honk their horns in rhythm.

After a few minutes, everyone will go on their way, a little more in tune and relaxed.

Reminds me of the elevator scene from Speed:

[Bob pushes elevator button that has already been pushed]
Bob's friend: Thanks for pushing that, Bob. The light's on but you never know, it really might be broken.
    Bob: Shut up.

    Two or three;

Two quick successions right off the bat trying to make it look like I only hit it once because Everyone is Looking.

Then a another obvious jab if I'm feeling impatient or bitchy.

I have one of those in the same intersection when returning. I do the same thing except I hit it 3 times as well.

Meh. In my town, they work, and they allow pedestrians approx. 3 hours, 22 minutes to get across.

I'm OCD so i have to stand there and push it 144 times, regardless of how long it takes, because that's 12x12. I then cross the street with complete disregard to what traffic is doing like Marla in Fight Club.

IN places they do work, it's likely they only work at certain times. But if you think it works...

Wow, 3 hours and 22 minutes. You're going to need some music

Depends on what kind of button, if it's the kind that makes the click sound and the light on the button comes on and says "wait" then just I hit it once. If it's the big round chrome button I have to keep hitting and slapping it those stupid things piece of crap no working buttons!

Those buttons don't actually work. It would upset the timing of the traffic lights. They are just placebo buttons.

Ones by my house starts the change the moment you push it because there is a school. Most don't change the light only the signal to cross. I like to hit it even though I don't need to cross. I just like messing with traffic.

We do have special crosswalks here that are not at intersections. It's the crosswalks at intersections that are bogus. But the crosswalks in the middle of the block do work. Sometimes I get stuck behind idiots that won't go until the red light stops flashing. Once the pedestrian crosses the light goes from solid to flash. Then you can go because a flashing red is the same as a stop sign. Besides that you can see that the pedestrian has made it safely across.

144, then I walk into the room with reckless abandon. I feel that I've been very clear on that point already.

I only push them the number of times I want to cross: one.
Now elevators are a whole different kettle of fish... that depends on what floor I am on. If you're on the 22nd floor, you have to push the call button 22 times, and when you get in the elevator, (assuming you haven't missed it while pushing the button), you have to push the floor button 22 times, or whatever floor you're on... My Dad told me this and it works every time! It is a bugger if you lose count tho as you have to go back to the bottom and start again...

Think I'll just take the stairs, sounds less tiring.

Pushing buttons 1 through 22 is the trick. It's also the scenic tour and even though it upsets the other 9 people in the elevator car, they can't throw you out a window

    until you exit the elevator.
