How do I improve my rep power?

I've been stuck at 1 for nearly 6 months and I think I've made some pretty awesome posts.

Rep is a stupid system that should be done away with. There's no actual merit to it because of d bag trolls who hand out random neg rep just for the sake of being d bags. Then you have cliques of rep whores that give eachother verbal handjobs with pos rep.

Don't pay any attention to it.

You don't improve your rep power, other members do it for you when they feel you make awesome posts.

Concentrate on contributing helpful, informative, humorous, and supportive content and find fulfillment in doing so- these are reward enough and in time others with recognize it and you.

Here's a good place to begin-

you cant really rep whore too easily because you have to dish out 100 points before you can re-rep someone...i think. but yeah, you cant spam rep someone, it dont work like that.

    Tips for getting positive reps.
1-Don't start threads on getting positive reps.
    2-Don't seem needy.
    3-Don't brag about yourself.
.....oh wait, you already did those things.

1 green chicklett with 1 rep power is respectable.

Just be happy your not red. You also don't want rep from those of us with light green chicklets, we all have CTD's and you will end up with an irritating rash on your E-weiner.

    Let's say you have a rear 150mm axle :

    150mm/2=75mm

And the measure you got from drop-out to middle cog is 25mm

    75mm-25mm=50mm

So your rear chainline is 50mm.

Then using a flat ruler, measure the distance between the middle of your chainring to the middle of the seat tube/frame. This will give you your current front chainline. Let's say you get 52.5mm.

Now you need to match either the rear to the front or front to the rear.

If you want to match the front, then you'll need four 2.5mm chainring spacers to stick between your crank arm spider and chainring and maybe longer chainring bolts to accommodate the new setup.

But if you want to match the rear, you will have to either shim your cassette with a 2.5mm cassette spacer or re-shim your hub to take 2.5mm worth of spacers/washers off the drive side and put them on the non-drive side. This will likely cause to set your rear rotor out of alignment and require to also shim either the rotor or caliper adaptor mount.

A last option is also available. Depending on your current BB/crank setup, you could just get a shorter BB spindle length (cartridge BB) or shim the BB spindle to get the right chainline (outboard BB), refer to the crank techs documents to see how to.

Regarding chainring spacers, there is two kind, the "regular" ones and the granny ones. The regular ones will have a ID of 10.5mm to fit standard chainring bolts while the granny ones will have a ID of 8.5mm to fit on a granny ring bolt.

Widely available standard one goes from 0.1mm to 4.5mm. Granny goes up to 5mm.

I had a very hard time finding some 5mm standard ones locally. I pretty much had to order online, but only bags of 20 were available. So I finally found some 4.5mm ones at my local bike co-op.

They cost about $1~$2 each at the lbs.

    Pick your poison !

It's better to give than to receive.

I see a lot of intelligent, interesting, or funny posts on MTBR, so I give a lot of rep.

Those little green squares won't improve your riding ability. Go for a ride and don't worry about it.

I can use the rep function on tapatalk when tapatalk is working on my phone. I just tap on the post itself and there's usually a function there.

Not on the iOS version I use and not here. On other forums I can "thank" someone using tapatalk but rep on any forum I use just doesn't exist in this app.

#2 Dont worry about rep man, its a completely pointless system. The guys that only care about rep and are just keyboard commando's who put up 5,000 posts a year unemployed, still living in their moms house, that don't own a bike... They are the ones that leave neg rep and actually think anyone cares about it.. Don't get sucked in to the childish antics of children.

Instead you should be here to learn, teach, chat, chill and enjoy the company of other real riders
I do all my own stunts, but never intentionally...

Certain people do deserve it, however I'm talking about the guys who have very few posts. I've seen members with 1 post, and a red chicklet, and it was just a post of their first ride or something. I shoot those guys a big green blast of rep. Unfortunately, some of the *******s on here have a lot of green rep, which I don't know why.

Still it must be case to case based.
I sure agree that the guy with one post and a red, couldn't possibly deserve that, but for instance the OP of this thread, just managed to get my first neg, simply for being so immensely self absorbed, that he thinks getting positive rep for just being around is mandatory.

I truly hate that sort of attitude.

sure, case by case. I will drop red on new posters who show up with a pretentious attitude, spam the board so they can get to 10 posts so they can post links, stuff like that. I will drop green on a new poster posting up about their first ride, new bike, or whatever.

What comes around, goes around. Share the wealth and it will come back to you. It doesn't have to be an "Impressive" post. It just needs to make sense, or tickle you, or seem positive.

Don't forget that you can also get neg rep for saying dumb, or offensive things. That can take your green blocks away, too.

Yeah, there's a big hairy dude on here that is waaaay overdue for a full body waxing, He's got an aweful lot of green blocks.

***I think a middle grounds color block should be added to the system: Yellow

I've not read anything to the effect that one is "supposed to", but reciprocating appreciation intuitively seems proper etiquette and the polite thing to do.

Mr. Magura- case by case would be proper sentence structure, although case to case will convey the same idea.

Getting rep is just like getting college girls.

    1. If you act like you want it too much, or wine about how you don't get enough, you will scare off those who will give it to you.
    2. If you hang out in the right area it will come to you (off camber / co-ed sports or sorority's)
    3. Be funny
    4. Be attractive
    5. Don't be ugly
    6. Intelligent posts/conversation will get you some with the right group, but not as reliably as being attractive and/or funny
    7. When moved to whore status your weener or e-weener will turn light green and become irritating.
    8. Getting some from the popular group will have extra pay off, but they either don't give it out as much, or give it and take it as often as possible

It's no secret how to get pos rep. Just give out lots of pos rep to other people and sign it. Some of them will return it.
It's known as the "rep circle jerk".

As sad as this thread is, the amazing thing is that the guy came back and replied to a post. I don't know how to explain this phenomenom. They usually never return, we have our fun and the thread is left to rot. I may pos rep this guy after all.

Thanks to all those who pos repped me. I was briefly at Rep Power 2, but then the haters (did someone say Magura?) knocked me back down to 1. Are we going to let the haters win, Forum?

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the Death Star, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet. Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home aboard her starship, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the galaxy...

I've evenly handed out love and dookies. Nothing gets rep points like the passion section and taking great pics of your local ride. Not you, but bike and surroundings, capturing the feel of the ride... That'll get you lots of positive rep. AZ has lots of great riding areas, outside of Phoenix. Go, shoot them, ride them, and share the stoke in the passion section, and your sword will grow.

I wanted to enlarge your green penis, but man says I have given out too much for the day.

They do not let me share too much.

ahhh that only works when you ride west of the divide. us flatlanders dont have great photo ops, so we must rely on our wit and humor to enlarge the e-peen.

Should I rephrase that as green cookies and red dookies?
