Now here's a thread with potential. I take every personality test I can find. I probably fill out, like, 15 personality tests per day. Then I post the results on my Facebook page and get as many "likes" and "comments" as I can. Really makes me feel like my life has meaning. It's so satisfying that I started tweeting my results and vining and hash tagging in hopes of growing a following.

Oh, and the results are always accurate, especially the personality tests that try to find which character you are from a tv series or movie. I like to put a selfie up next to the character I got when I post my results. Really drives traffic. When I got back results saying if I were a Brady Bunch character I'd be Alice, well, the likeness is uncanny. Started a whole meme. It was awesome. Better go check my comments.

Well, I'm a complete a**hole, and most tests don't plumb the depths far enough to take me into account. I therefore falsify all tests I take, and like Slow Danger, I complete as many as I can to build my self-esteem. I am, however, still trying to figure out how F'bok works, so haven't had a chance to share my greatness as yet... perhaps we could start a thread where we could demonstrate these things?

I'm sensing a bit of sarcasm but I'm not sure because you could be serious? lol it's making my head hurt...jk

But to everyone wondering why I'm asking, online course in psychology that we were talking about it and I'd never thought about it too much before and just wanted other peoples take on the topic. A lot of companies these days use personality assessments for various reasons so I figured someone would have some frustration in a comment but seems more people dislike than "like" them.

Oh. If you were referring to personality assessments that lead gainful, professional employ, then the results of all those tests I've taken have definitely been inaccurate. Which is fine, because it leaves me lots of time to assess which muppet I am and post the findings to my facebook page. Swedish Chef, btw.

Seriously though, what are you asking? Are you asking about personality tests in general, or tests that are being used as a potential form of discrimination? If you want an opinion to help you in your college class, you will have to be more specific. Most people who take those tests for a job lie and answer however they think the employer would want them to answer. Employers like this because it means the potential employee is subservient and willing to lie in order model the company's agenda. One example of a test question I remember:

Question--"If you were making a purchase from a vending machine, and the machine gave you the product without taking your money, would you call the 1-800 number on the machine and alert the company that their machine wasn't functioning properly."

Statistically speaking, the percentage of people who would actually make that call has to be closer to zero percent than ten percent. This means at least 90% of the people taking the personality test are lying when they claim they would make the call. Does the employer want to know who will actually answer honestly? Then the test includes a number of other "gotcha" questions, which assess whether you are answering consistently. Well, if you are trying to answer in what you think is the "right" way, then you'll be consistent. The company wants consistent liars. And I'm only being slightly sarcastic.

PS. If anyone here has used these tests to hire people, I'd be interested in learning what exactly was being measured. I suppose the tests can help eliminate some idiots that might otherwise have gotten and interview and wasted your time without the test.

The only personality tests worth taking are those that are standardized on representative normed samples of the US population. Check stats on validity and reliability, and see someone who is licensed to administer them.

Otherwise, don't waste your time on the goofy online scams who's sole purpose is to data mine your identity.

Well, I felt this thread was getting a little serious and some confusion might be needed to unravel things a bit

Palindromes are always good for that, and this one is about the first example in history... a representation of this bit of Latin was found scrawled into a wall at Pompeii. It has been used over the years as a mark inscribed into various Christian edifices all over Europe, and has been ascribed magical properties, including being able to confuse the Debil! Apparently he can't get his head around the word repetition...

Also, the palindrome of Bolton is Notlob...
