    It had to happen...

I reads this morning that globally, broadband is slowing down with all the streaming, working remotely, and Picard's porn downloads.

Youtube has slowed videos to standard def apparently... Imagine if it all took a dump!
    It's all Here. Now.

There was a global DNS server hiccup that took out parts of North America for a few hours yesterday afternoon.

My ISP was offline for about 2 hours, lunchtime of course.

I've been having slower internet since this whole thing started in China earlier in the year. TV has been wonky too. Frozen picture and pixelated for moments.

Yep, Netflix has dropped a couple of times mid-show since this started. Trying to convince my wife that the TV needs replaced.... she's not buying it (the reason or a new TV).

It was predicted weeks ago that Netflix would have issues.

We just picked up a 4K TV. Our other TV is only HD. I'll have to ask my wife if any of this is happening (I don't watch). I haven't heard any complaints yet.

There would be riots if it was longer. People would riot in the streets because they wouldnt be glued to a screen no more.

Yes. I've ridden Zwift 58 of the last 60 days. It is becoming increasingly buggy/twitchy. Typical number of riders 30 days ago was ~6000. Yesterday, there were 14k in Watopia and another 7k in NYC. About the same number for today, 8k in Watopia and 10k in London. The trails were PACKED.

I blame it on Pornhub making their Premium content free because we're all stuck at home. No virus discount for Disney +. I mean, if you like deals, your decision is already made for you, right?

In a situation like the one we're in, (people either out of work or working from home), I feel like there are two types of people. The ones that play video games and "binge" on seasons of (insert show here), and the people that go outdoors and do activities.

I've seen 10x the numbers of people I usually do on the paths, or in the local parks. But I figure there are 80x the number of people sitting at home streaming or gaming.

I love riding in the middle of my otherwise busy local roads, when safe of course. A small sliver of rebellion, with frequent glances under the armpit for errant vehicles.

I hadn't noticed any ISP connectivity latency. Still getting over 800MB throughput on our 1GB pipe.

Haven't noticed latency on Netflix, even at 4k and 5.1. Amazon Prime sucks bad. But it always seemed to have occasional latency issues, even before covid. MTBR and PinkBike, no issues.

The important stuff... my MountainFlyer, FreeHub, Mountain Bike Action, and Mountain Biking UK magazines seem to be just fine.
