I always thought a shit name for a band would be 'Bears In Woods'

I might be helpful to list the genre of band that these names would be a good fit for. For example, "Bum Piss" would work just as well for a sludge metal band as it would for an Indigo Girls cover band.

Winnemucca Stripper & the Tunnel Motors, seriously. Think country-speed-railroad punk for the deepest, darkest part of Nevada and its long time association with both the Wobbly and SP being in town.

I had a list on the wall by my desk that I would write band names I thought of. I realized I would never be in a band so I tossed it recently.

One I'll always remember is "Stuck Nugget".

One day when my now 20 year old daughter was much younger and used to dip her chicken nuggets in the ketchup one got stuck and she said "stuck nugget" and I said great name for a band. She remembers it as well which means a good memory for us.

Had some friends text me last night about coming over to jam a bit. Told them my house is shut down (wife and kids asleep) but I'm hanging in the garage going back and forth between bike work and playing a few tunes. So told them to come over but hanging in the garage, you know, would only be a "bare bones" affair. Nothing fancy, no spread, no meat n cheese tray, or anything. BYOB.

    Got me thinking...

    Bare Bones

Would be a good name for a 3 piece. Guitar, bass, drums.

My band is called Tight Posse.

We changed it from Bertha D. Blooz, because nobody got the joke. I wanted to be C.O. Jones, but I googled it and somebody beat me to it.

My friend played bass for on called "No Man's Band" for a couple of years. They would collect flyers from dragqueen stage shows and print their concert flyers over the top.

    Extra Cheese

When I use to jam with this old friend of mine in college we'd run this massive list of popular cover tunes - pop, rock, country, folk, polka - whatever. Pretty much never too proud to play anything. Some tunes belonged to the "Extra Cheese" set list. There'd always be one or two songs he'd bring up that I just felt had too much attitude though, too much tuffness, to play. One such tune was Seger's "Turn The Page" (good song btw - it was just too tough for me to cover). When he'd ask to play it I'd always say, "No way man, that song's too tough". I always thought that'd make a fun band name. Probably already taken for all I know.

Like a trail given a name just for the sake of giving it a name, I can't get into a band name just because it sounds funny or neat or whatever - its got to have a story. Just like a trail. Got this bud who won't name a built trail until something happens on it or to it that then speaks to him - then he names it.

    Rock on.

There was a band back in St.Louis that we used to go see at the local haunts called Tuff Nutz. They wee a blast. The bass player had a prosthetic leg and he would throw it in the crowed and then crowed surf to go get it. Man those guys were fun.

Extra Cheese- I was thinking Spray Cheeze

    LOL!

Some of my buddies have played out as the Slaphead Mofo's a couple times over the years. They do a, well, killer amped-up cover of Psycho Killer.

I suggested they do a heavy version of a Talking Heads tribute band and call themselves the Squawking Heads.
