    Favorite songs to turn up LOUD?

    What songs are your favorite to play LOUD?
    Not just songs you like, ones that are best at volume levels that piss off the neighbors.

    For me,
    Styx - Queen of Spades
    Judas Priest - Living After Midnight

    Like DJ said too many to list. I'm sure I'll be popping into this thread off and on for awhile as songs come to me. Any Van Halen. Here's hot for teacher, which btw, has a great video.

    You cannot play "Ride of the Valkyries" quietly, it must be cranked way up.

    Same thing with "O Fortuna"

    You Could Be Mine (it is impossible for me to listen to this at less than high volume) this song is the closest thing to musical crack that I know of.

    GNR Rocks!
    What a waste of talent Axle Rose is. There has never been a front man before or after with a voice like his.

    Mostly anything on my itunes is liable to be blasted out of the speakers at some point. Right now it's Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes, Out on the Tiles/ Whole Lotta Love.

    When I lived in an apartment, there was a couple downstairs who were unbelievably noisy... they played annoying music (eg Wake me up before You GoGo, Mmmmm Bop, Livin La Vida Loca, Barbie Girl etc) and when they argued they were door slammers and screamers

    So one evening when the awful pop music started, I placed my speakers faced down, turned the volume to 11 and blasted them with my bass cannon

    The noise stopped and they thankfully moved

    DIRTJUNKIE - nice call on "Blue on Black", another high-volume favorite.

    And Cyclelicious - Joan Jett rocked me through college, among others. Nice.

    It would be improper to listen to the above video of Jimmy without earphones and "medicating" properly, to get the proper seperation of stereophonic channels.

    Agreed!

    And the same must be said of Cornfield's link to Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon. I just listened to about half of it while sitting here. That takes me back about 40 years when I would spend hours in the darkened living room with the ol' Sony headphones on. Those were the days!

    I just had 'Wish' in the car the other day and enjoyed listening to the CD in it's fullest.

    As for playing it loud, I will always turn it up for a Perfect Circle's 'Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of the War Drums.'
    The only important thing these days, is rhythm and melody. Rhythm...and melody.

    Some great stuff everyone. Just so many amazing artists and songs to list. Freak bro Joe Bonamassa is amazing, one of my favorites.
    Here is one definitely one of my favorites and very touching if you listen to the lyrics.
    Alice In Chains / Rooster
    The song is about a soldier in action.

    This can go on and on I say just crank whatever song is playing. As long as it's rock it's all good.

    Maybe early Sabbath played loud, but the make-up wearing Ozzy can easily be played rather softly.

    I'm the same way, my music taste is all over the place. Just a couple rules no hip hop or rap crap and I'm good. Sorry someone had to say it. I'm sure some of you hate me for that comment. But that's the beauty of music one persons love is another persons headache.

    Rock on.

    The song is based on Jerry Cantrell's fathers service in Vietnam. Amazing song (as are most Alice in Chains songs).

    As others have said, too many to list, but for extra motivation i usually blast one of these as the last song before i pull up to the trailhead:

    'set the world afire' by megadeth
    'cargos of doom' by warrior soul
    'jolly rodger' by suede brothers
    'do it' by rollins band
    'hell on wheels' by fu manchu

    I bought this album when it first came out and I doubt I ever listened to it without the volume turned way up. Jazzy rather than rock. The musicianship is unreal.

    I wasn't even born when you saw your 1st Tull show! I think Thick as a Brick was one of my 1st real 'Oh WOW,this is good shit' discoveries when I started collecting records back in '04.

    Saw Tull again maybe 10 years ago. They were still putting out a lot of energy on stage, although Ian Anderson has dialed back his stage antics quite a bit.

    No way! That's the concert I went to at the Sports Arena in San Diego. Same reason I went to it to see The Cult, I had no desire to see Billy Idol. I'm thinking it was in 1989' or 88'.

    AZ good call and my absolute favorite from Grand Funk Railroad was "An American Band". When I was in my early teens I had the gold colored 45 vinyl and played it over and over. This link show's that gold 45 on the cover.

    Probably the same concert, but I looked it up and it was 1987.

    05/06/87 Billy Idol, The Cult, San Diego Sports Arena
    Must have been that one for me, because I was just about to graduate from college, and still had this night job I went to right after the concert.

    I did hang out for Billy Idol, only because the girl my buddy set me up with was a fox.

    It's so funny I was thinking of throwing a Jethro Tull and a Beck and an AC/DC but you all beat me to it.

    So I'll see you those and raise you with a ZZ Top song.
    One of my favorites "You Got Me Under Pressure" BTW I've seen many of the above bands live and ZZ Top 3 times.

    I did hang out for Billy Idol, only because the girl my buddy set me up with was a fox.
    Definatily the same concert, I almost said 87'. I had just met my long time girlfriend and we clicked big time liking the same music. She had it for the lead singer of The Cult.
    Crazy we went to the same concert 26 years ago.

    We took her car and it got broken into. Window smashed and stereo gone. Good old Sports Arena area.

    Yes, yes I did. 1987 BSEE.

    Yeah, crazy coincidence on that concert. Are you still with that GF? If so, tell her that stereo didn't fit in my dash.

    Oh wow you graduated from SDSU in 87'. That's the same year my girlfriend I talked about graduated. You may have known her. We dated for 10 years and broke up in 97'. I got some devastating new's a year ago. She passed away from liver complications. Very painful for me, she was an incredible person.

    I wasn't going to add this to the thread because it's a cover, but seeing ZZ Top mentioned, and if you are open to a cover, this Joe Bonamassa version of Just Got Paid is as much energy as my old heart can stand for 11 minutes and 37 seconds. Turn it up!

    Good call Freakybro, Joe Bonamaasa in my opinion is "one of the best" guitarist of all time. Did you see the 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame where ZZ Top got up on stage to infuct Freddie King.

    Joe Bonamassa and,Derick Trucks joined in and they jammed "Going Down". An,amazing mixture of guitarist talent all playing together. DerickTrucks is another amazing talent. Check it out..

    Anything by Pantera is good loud (I deny the existence of the glam album) but no matter how loud the volume is set, when this song hits i raise it even more...

    I saw Guns n Roses open for The Cult in 1987 at the SDSU open air amphitheater. This was not long after Appetite for Destruction came out I think, and they freaking blew us away. Me and my buds were like "we just witnessed history or something"! We watched The Cult for a little bit but then we left to go to some little dump of a club to see a band called Flipper. I can't remember the name of the club but I also saw Dinosaur there, before they were called Dinosaur Jr. and a bunch of other bands.

    While I really dig acoustic renditions of songs, that one is not something I'd crank.

    Springsteen's acoustic versions of his tunes are at time better than the full versions, as are Neil's.

    GnR's "One In A Million", is my favorite to turn up loud. Wish it didn't have the racism.

    Jethro Tull was my first 'real concert' that I attended. the 'Warchild' tour around 1975. A little bit of the beginning of the end of Tull for me as far as liking their new music. I like the older stuff. . . . way up loud. the Aqualung album is up there with AC/DC's Back in Black for albums you can just crank up the whole for the whole album. My neighbor had a ticket for me to go when the Passion Play tour went through, but I was a little too young to sneak out of the house for that one. Wore out my Thick as a Brick and Aqualung 8-track tapes. Had tickets to see them at the Santa Monica Civic around 1983 and they blew out my car window as I was going down the freeway the morning of the concert.

    Frankenstein is completely worthy of making this list. Got to play that one loud. Had the 'They Only Come Out at Night' album back in the day (right when it came out).

    Most people seem to prefer other Pink Floyd albums, but I really like the Animals album.

    I bought this album when it first came out, not long after buying my first stereo. I used to love playing this song LOUD. Copelands drumming and Summers guitar, contrasted by Stings bass line, all capped off by the vocals, still to this day works for me. These guys in their day were transformative artists. Unbelievably good.

    Has anyone mentioned Judus Preist "You've Got Another Thing Coming"
    Just heard it on the radio and I haven't heard it for awhile. But it rocks LOUD".
    Reminds me that the lead singer Rob Halford lives in San Diego and I've seen him on a couple of occasions. Pretty hard to mistake that dude.

    loading my boys ipad Istarted to scroll through my itoons library and came across one I hadn't played in ages.

    Don't really know how you can play System of a Down anything but loud. Chopsuey

    <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/unugmLvFeCE?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    and on a completely different tangent, everytime Gorecki plays I reach for the volume and get completely lost

    When we get in the car my two year old daughter starts asking for Journey... usually Don't Stop Believing. That's her mother's influence.
    When we fire up Van Halen - Jump, both kids start dancing in their seats and singing along. It's great.

    Thinking about songs that really NEED to be played as loud as your ears can handle, I immediately thought of this one:

    OK....

    From Queen: the songs from Highlander;

    Scorpions: Still Lovin' You, The Zoo, Rock You Like A Hurricane;

    Stones: Start Me Up, Paint It Black;

    AC/DC: Back In Black, Dirty Deeds;

    Black Sabbath: the entire albums Paranoid AND Sabbath Bloody Sabbath;

    Twisted Sister: We're Not Gonna Take It, The Price;

    Aerosmith: Back In The Saddle, Last Child, Sweet Emotion;

    Bon Jovi: Livin' On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name.

    There ARE more, but they elude me at the moment....
