    Examples of irony

How about an internet forum just for internet forum addicts?

    Internet Addiction Forum

Will sufferers' needs be met there? One way or the other, it would seem.

    Got other examples of irony?

Early in the digital era we had a pretty primitive online request form at the library where I work. It was just a template, you filled out your info and the item you wanted, and submitted it. It went to a file which we could then access and we'd fill the request. One crusty ol' fellow didn't care for using the computer-he would print the blank request, fill it out by hand and send it to us via campus mail. One request he sent that I still remember was for a book titled "The logical way of doing things." Pegged the dial on my irony meter with that one!

IDK, a few of his threads have resulted in useful discussion. I guess that's ironic in and of itself.

Well played, DJ. While you were actually the third person to use the phrase "ironed out" in this thread, you plugged your late post in above the previous two, giving readers who overlook time stamps the impression that you were first to come up with that wordplay.

Bravo. A brilliant maneuver that true irony appreciators may consider a bit flat. At this point I'd say I won't press the issue, but that one's already been used as well. Besides, I did.

Kudos to the group for actually using the term correctly. All to often people say things are ironic when they are simply coincidental. It literally drives me nuts...(speaking of word misuses)

Literally zero political intent in posting this:

    Examples of irony-joe-biden-literally.jpg

Just funny and when I Googled "mis-use of literally" the meme popped up as part of a separate article.

According to the Washington Post it comes from a 2012 speech were the word was literally used 9 times to describe figurative things.

I don't find that ironic. One might expect Water Street to be near water. Mountain Ridge Road, now that would be more ironic.

I went to an employment law seminar yesterday and as a parting gift, the law firm had a reminder for us to be kind to the environment.

They gave us a small bundle of paper straws.

Here's something I found a little ironic yesterday. My wife has mold related illness and has become very sensitive to all kinds of chemicals, fragrances etc. She has been looking at the effects of EMF exposure, and what high levels can do at the cellular level, and in her delving, she found an app that measured EMF levels. She downloaded it to her phone and came into my home office to show me, all proud.
I pointed out that the device she was using to measure this with was in fact a very high emitter of EMF radiation itself... duh... she deleted it...
    It's all Here. Now.

People running in the lightest shoes they can afford for a heavy workout.

People thinking it’s a great idea to pay to lift weight and put it back down in the same place, but a terrible idea to earn pay by digging a ditch.

A Math degree on a Lottery scholarship.

A handicap restroom required 25 floors above the exit and a handicap parking place required 25’ from the entrance.

I dig ditches all the time doing landscaping. Last year me and my crew of six put out 650 tons of 1.5in granite with wheel barrows and shovels. I want to charge people to do landscaping and call it a workout.
