that's just like my dog. his bedtime is 9, my bedtime during the week is close to that since I get up before 4am this time of year. If we stay up later he will walk out of the bedroom with a look like, "hey I thought we were going to bed"

It's also funny to me that he sleeps on a cot ( well, toddler bed). We had one in our room for one of the granddaughters and Griffy just kind of took it over. He shredded his first, and last, dog bed the first day but< man he loves his cot!

I noticed the cot. Smore gets his dog bed where ever he goes including camping. He also gets to bring several toys, a tennis ball and his blanket. but the blanket is only for when its cold.

Many moons ago, my girlfriend had an awesome German Shepherd with a severe case of OCD when it came to tennis balls. We were camping, and for days on end, all that dog would do was obsess over his ball. Finally, my girlfriend snapped, and threw his tennis ball in the fire.

That dog howled, bayed, and moaned for hours as if it was being tortured in the depths of hell. NOTHING would console that dog. It kind of ruined the mushroom trip.
I would advise not taking my advice.

An Old Dear Friend I had to say goodbye to way back in 2004.....
Shiloh met me at the truck faithfully after work every day with a smile.
Then the day came she couldn’t anymore.
After putting off for as long as the two of us could bear what we both knew was coming, we said goodbye.
I held her as the vet administered what would take away her pain.
As I felt her relax for the final time I knew she was gone.
Every Spring a patch of daffodils that marks where I laid her reminds me of a friend I’ll never forget.
I still miss you Shiloh, every time I hear Annie Lennox sing “Into the West”

I just saw a couple of dog movies recently. The first one was a happier story called "The Art of Racing In The Rain" about a golden retriever pup adopted by a professional race car driver. It wasn't a childish movie, no talking dogs. But his thoughts were voiced by Kevin Costner.

Then there was this other movie I saw a few days ago. I saw it on the TubiTV app on my Roku. I had never heard of it before. It was from 1982. It was animated but not cartoony looking. Yeah, so it did have talking dogs but it was not a kid's movie. The two main dogs talked to each other, they talked with a sheep dog and a fox that befriended them. No other animals talked, not even other dogs. Anyway it was a sad story about these two dogs that escaped from a research lab (more like a horror house for animals) and their quest for freedom and stay alive but it had such a sad ending. Anyway it's been on my mind ever since I saw it.

Well guys after many years without a dog, and a big heart break you may recall at the beginning of the year. (Got scammed and sold a sick dog)

I proudly introduce Zoe* to you all dog lovers. 7 month old Corgi.

    I'm in love!

Pardon the bad pics, more to come she still not sure wth is going on, so she is a bit nervous.

Cutie, Corgis are nothing but gentle souls, congrats!

It’s been a tough road for you two, hope all works out for the best with her. Great markings by the way. And the name Zoe fits her perfectly.

Thanks DJ! She is going to be special for sure. As we speak she is laying by me after a tough night getting used to her new home.

I was looking for a medium size breed, but everything I read about Corgis and having met a few in the past, is actually the perfect size for my current situation.

So, my girl won't be a "trail" dog given her extremely long legs.

I was looking at those dog trailers, any thoughts? I do a lot of riding I can hook her up and bring her along.

How big will she get? I had briefly thought about that fort my dogs but they run with little discretion except when they see a squirrel or rabbit... The shepard lab mix chases any kind of bike so that's not ideal. However the hound mix loves sleeping and also being pampered. I think I could put her in a cart. She's only 50 lbs.

It's more like how long she will get lol. She should be around 28lbs max.

I'm thinking I will give this a shot, holds a dog up to 50lbs. I'm debating if I want to put this on my bikes or get a cheapo Walmart/CL bike for this application.

Awesome! That looks fun. I would love something like that to take the dogs through the park. They get pretty tired after walking about three or four miles.

I think that’s fits the bill. Should be some kind of quick release to hook it on and off fast for use on one of your good bikes.

As an animal guy, I feel that all animals are sentient. I can't have dogs where I live now, so I've had cats for the last 23 years. Cats seem to be living longer these days, as my last tom, who I rescued at the tender age of 18, lived with us to the age of 22. Before him, I had another tom, a big large-boned orange one, that made it to 19, and
I experienced a bond with him in his last 5 years that was as close as any I've seen between dogs and their people. Very painful to let go of such a strong bond. I hope your new boy lives an uneventful healthy life, and lives to a ripe, pain-free , old age.
How we relate to animals reflects directly on how we relate to humans, and the whole world too, for that matter.

Congrats on all the new puppers! JC the last time we went to the Huntington dog beach there was a huge Corgi convention there, literally hundreds of them running around with their owners, it was hilarious! Our Golden thought she was a giant for the day.

I met this wolf / husky hybrid yesterday. Pretty cool dog but definitely had a wild side to him. Made me a bit nervous petting him. His owner said he tends to be attracted towards small dogs, not in a good way. Which was evident when one walked by on a leash. The owner did all he could do to contain him.

Lol CorgiCon Oct 26 or 27 not sure but we are planning on going. I saw on YT, the first one had about 15 Corgis now is what you saw.

My soon to be stepson has 2, that's sort of how I ended up with Zoe. I will be doing some filming.

    ^A tree jumper? Lol

Saw this little dude today. A ten year old miniature Yorky that took to riding a skateboard to keep up with his master in his late years. He stays right on it. Talked to the owner and he said he’s been doing it for four years.

Man, I don’t think I ever took any of my late Bandit like that. Although he did sleep on his back legs up when he was younger. And as he got older took on the pose that Andrews dog is doing. Or curled up when it was cold.

The little one was no problem. She just hopped in and never jumps out. The bigger one took some training. Specially when she saw other dogs or skateboarders! But now she just chills and doesn't jump out anymore. We practiced a lot on non-busy places until I could really trust her on busy streets.

my wife was at home when we had the tornado scare here in north Phoenix(New River), She was scared, took the dog and went for cover in the middle bathroom. We have had several thunderstorms this week. S'more has learned that when there is thunder you hide in the shower.

Kluejr runs his kid in the front, I have mine in the back.

At first, but there is an adjustable leash where she can't really escape. I did a quick trip to our training-running stop, she went back in and trusted it right away we did a full ride around.

She just wants to be my shadow, so many years w/out a dog, the house is complete again.

To contribute to the dog belly pics, Hon' is requesting a rub while she naps after our walk. She's just too sleepy to roll over any more.

I caught this on my car's dashcam video some time ago:

    https://youtu.be/5k2mBTjUIAw

Dog is lucky to be alive. Owner used a retractable leash and was distracted while her dog ran into the street. I didn't realize how close it was until I reviewed my dashcam later.

    ^"CorgiCon" … L to the MAO

The other day I was taking my doggos to the park for a walk. Stopped at an intersection, I heard a commotion and looked over to see a SUV full of young people trying to get my attention. I rolled down my window and one girl said "We want to talk to your dogs!" So I rolled down the back window and they were calling out to the dogs, saying how cute they were, "look at the ears!" yada yada.

So I instructed my old boy to wave at them, and he did (it's more like a high-five) and they about lost it. "OMG he's waving!! I want to hug him!!"

Happy to make someone's day. Sorry, no pics.

Griffon has a torn ACL....out for the rest of the season.

We've never had to use his crate as a training/ discipline thing, so he's been okay with extra time in there, but he's entirely miserable living life as a dog on a leash. Surgery the 24th and 4-6 months to rehab.

How did that happen? Zoe sends healing vibes.

I'm using the crate but mostly for sleeping and when I have to leave the house. Never for punishment, I think she got one time out lol.

She is taking a lot of my time but dogs are awesome right?

Once she is fully trained, it will go back to normal.

That is hilarious. I was eating in a nice restaurant when I saw it on my phone the other day. Meant to comment on it but was too distracted showing it to the cute waitress. She got a kick out of it, I know her personally and knew she liked dogs and would appreciate it.

MOJO, sorry to hear about Griffons injury. He looks like quite the character and his name couldn’t be more perfect for his look.

And JC, Zoe looks like she’s one happy camper. 😁
