desolation canyon of the green river, eastern utah multi day raft trip

My wife and I picked up a deso canyon raft permit for april 13th. I have never been there before. Anyone done this run before? any hikes or campsites that I should search out or avoid?

84 mile float, put in on a Monday and take out Friday or Saturday. I have heard there are lots of mosquito's.

Sounds like it'll be a great time. The OC might not be your best source of information though, try posting in the Utah forum.

Might as well bring a bunch of limes and make some Kamikazees while he's at it.

Haha, wrong beav. I hear there's a lot of furry beaver running around Desolation Canyon. And they're pretty cute.

Beaver gnawing on wood. I was a little worried what a Google image search would come back with but interesting enough its pretty benign. Children can safely search for beaver on the internet!

if you guys are setting up a bar for me to float into. I am a real simple drinker:
bud light and jack daniels. no need to stray from the good stuff. My wife likes blue moon and vodka.
where will you be set up at and do you take cash?

I floated it in 2009 and don't have my river map handy so I'm no use for specific campsite info. We didn't do any more hiking than just poking around the major pictograph locations, which was worthwhile.

In April it may not be too buggy, but this is a weird year. Prepare for wind, though. Holy balls it can be windy.

thanks for the info, I have heard of the bugs and the wind.
I know this will be a mellow float, but looking forward to no phones, computers or people asking me questions at work.

Hope you have a good float. It's a pretty canyon. We managed to get a couple days of good spring floating out of our trip.
