Of Decadent Desserts and Deserts thread...

    I've got issues.
Stick some freshly baked "dark" chocolate chip cookies in front of me with a cold glass of milk.

    Pure heaven!
    Are you a dipper?

Post up some favorite go to desserts of your own.

Hey DJ, you're about to get flooded with images of the desert rather than images of banana splits.

3 large cookies dipped and a large glass of milk devoured in 4 minutes = stomach ache.

Does that mean that you do not drink the milk left over in the bottom of a bowl of cereal after all the cereal is gone, too?

Nope. I try to add just the right volume of milk to the cereal so that the last spoonful of cereal also contains the last spoonful of milk.

Well, I had a big ole' bowl of Apple Jacks this morning, and I tried the WT method of milk management, and failed miserably. I miscalculated by at least a half cup. The WT method is not nearly as easy as it appears. Perhaps if DJ had actually attempted the method, I bet that he wouldn't have been quite so quick to ridicule and ostracize Wishful Tomcat for his honorable and courageous attempts at cow udder conservation. Obviously, DJ does not understand what it truly means to be a pioneer.

Thanks for the support Opti! DJ's cranky this morning. I forgot to add the caveat, if you finish up and there happens to be milk remaining in the bowl just add a little more cereal to help things along.

I don't have any pictures, but one of my favorite deserts is creme brulete. There's a couple restaurants that we go to specifically for the desert more than the entrees. Although places that make good creme brulete tend to make great food up and down the entire menu.

That's funny that you chose Apple Jacks because that's the exact cereal I had in mind when TC brought to light his milk management strategy. And out of all the cereals that this strategy would be the most likely to be impossible AJ's would be the one. Now that's not saying there aren't other cereals out there that TC's MMS wouldn't work on but I still think this MMS is an impossibility which still puts TC in the courtroom and ostracized and ridiculed as being a .... I do something like what WT does with his cereal as well. For me it's usually flakes of some sort. Nothing gets my goat more than having dried cereal without enough milk sitting at the bottom of the bowl. It's difficult to chew and swallow at that point. I've made it a bit of an art to know how much milk is required for each cereal. I look at the side of the bowl and as soon as I see milk I know its enough. For some cereals, it's a bit less than this, others a bit more.

Yes but what your milk management system [MMS] is doing is just controlling your bowl of cereal from not running out or having too much milk. Wishful Tomcat claims to have a MMS that keeps all the little crumbs and flavor additives from polluting the milk. Which most of us know is the icing on the cake so to speak at the end of the bowl. Who here doesn't enjoy the crumb infested pink milk at the end of an Apple Jacks bowl. Or the brown chocolate flavored crumb infested milk after a bowl of Flintstones Kellogg's Cocoa Pebbles or Cocoa Puffs.

If I understand WT's MMS, it too is an attempt to properly synchronize the cereal and milk. His only reference to crumbs is regarding cookies in milk, which he does not like.

Regarding my MMS, if I have a couple tablespoons of extra milk I'm OK with that because I also enjoy a couple gulps of flavorful milk to wrap up my cereal session. I just don't want excessive milk at the end though, the tolerances are quite narrow in this matter.

That's just his blood sugar level talking. Or dehydration from the hot sun. He's not sure which.

Nice contributions Katz, but considering where you live, you should also be able to supply some DESERT pics since this is a double feature thread.

    Decadent Dessert ...thread.

I'm not sure if this technically can be dessert -and it certainly wasn't found at a desert. But, it was the final thing I ate at lunch, so in that sense it counts.

Yes, it was as delicious I as it looks.

DJ, they're at it again with the thread dupes.

Now there is ANOTHER copy of this thread floating around....something about ice cream.

Nope that one is ice cream only. But one can't deny the infringement rights Hawg is stepping on by opening the "2015' Desserts thread" knowing full well of the patented Decadent Desserts Thread". He felt so guilty he scrambled and changed the threads title. Adding in the 2015' thinking the patent attorneys wouldn't notice. And if so wouldn't pursue legal action. Its like opening up a restaurant identical to McDonald's and changing the color scheme to blue instead of yellow. And adding in a year designation like 2015'. Look everyone its the 2015' Mc-Donald's. The wrapping may look different but something seems familiar to you. Upon walking in things still looks familiar. Then to try a burger called a Big Mic and it dawns on you. It's a copied but slightly changed version of McDonald's. That's when you're faced with the moral dilemma, should you contact the authorities and make them aware of this bootlegged version, or sit back and let it all crumble on its own. The latter is the road I shall take.

So you're saying ice cream has no business in a dessert thread?

Spock might have said "that's just not logical".

One can't steal from oneself. Look at it this way, I've got a well established restaurant. On the main side I'm known for my decadent desserts with ice cream included. Then I add space on the far end adding in an ice cream only shop. And give it its very own name. Specializing in ice cream and owned by the same owner. I still sell ice cream in the main part of the restaurant along with all sorts of decadent desserts.

Sure you can fight that Hawgs thread is my competition down the street. But the zoning ordinance in the OC only allows for one of any given similar thread unless owned and operated by the same individual. I'm just trying to abide and keep things uniform in the neighborhood.

These need to be evaluated as well. Do they belong in the dessert thread, the ice cream thread, the french fry thread, or the burger thread? I'm so confused!

All here in the Decadent a Dessert Thread.
Not to be confused with Hawgs bootlegged version the 2015' Desserts thread.

You see the ice cream thread is for ice cream only. Not a mixture ice cream on top of other decadent morsels. Anything of that nature goes in the decadent Dessert thread - here.

These are of a different category. Not to be put in the decadent deserts thread except the middle photo. The burger [top photo] should go in the burger thread. The bottom photo the fries thread.

It's not that hard people, get your act together.

DJ, I'm confused. Cookie dough ice cream can go in the ice cream thread yet ice cream in between two cookies can't. This is truly complicated. Maybe my next dessert will be posted as a poll so I can determine the correct home for the contribution.

It's getting very complicated because of the bootlegged copied threads. As far as ice cream mixed with anything there's a fine line between the Decadent Desserts thread and the ice cream thread. I'm going to leave it up to the poster to determine which one he or she would like to put it in. But entering any of it into the black market threads such as the 2015' Dessert thread is where the line is drawn. And it could come back to haunt.

I'd hate to see any innocent bystanders end up in the BIG HOUSE singing soprano for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. When the Feds complete their sting operation coined "The Big Thread Dupes of 2015' ". You bet your ass they're going to be arresting anyone within 100 yards of the black market thread warehouse.

Cream puff/eclair ranks very high among the list of my few(-dozen) weaknesses.
This one is from R-Place in Morris, Illinoiz. Full of whip cream & custard cream goodness.

Katz, I love cream puffs. The best I can remember ever having was at a grocery store in Rochester N.Y. called Wegmans.

It's been years since I had them there but I Googled and they rank a 5 star rating.

Baklava ice cream. My local Greek restaurant makes it themselves.
I just tried it for the first time the other day... It is to die for...

Same here, I'm currently eating a chocolate bar. I should have taken it to the desert to eat it though.

I've been cutting way down on my sugar recently, not that I ate a ton before, however...we were at cheesecake factory the other night and they have the absolute best carrot cake ever. Carrot cake is my favorite anyway and theirs is the bomb-diggity. Cream cheese frosting for the freaking win.
