I felt the same way. I should be clear: I don't hate cats. I have a cat, and a dog (and sometimes my female dog tries to hump my male cat.)

And as far as my neg repper pal below here: I couldn't really say one way or the other. I suppose if you seasoned him properly he might be okay.....

Not sure why, but this made me laugh harder than I've laughed in a while. Read the story and turns out it was a beloved pet named "Orville." Just told the girlfriend I know what we're doing with Carl the dachshund when he kicks it!

I have to laugh because I've lived this exact moment several times. She usually just rolls her eyes, though. Then I go get the kids and show them what I'm laughing at and they think it's funny. Hmmmm, maybe that says something about my sense of humor.

Wait, the cat was named "Orville"? As in Orville Wright, the father of human flight?

Kinda sounds like he had this planned....

One of the other articles stated that he actually had two cats - Orville and Wilbur. No mention was made of where or what Wilbur is these days.

Who comes up with this stuff?

I have to admit, at first I was a little put off. But after watching it fly around for a few minutes, it got funnier and funnier, just the silhouette and the face the cat is making ... actually made me laugh out loud.

Wierd, but it's the guy's cat. He can remember it or memorialize it however he wants (taxidermy is wierd to begin with -- makes no difference to me if you put it on the mantle or fly it around the park, it's still a dead animal!).

This is horrible but I'm laughing while reading the article. The best part is at the end; the artist will be upgrading the cat, err propellers.

Squatch, dont be creeped, but you were in my dream. In this dream, you were online friends with my brother, so you came to visit, and the 3 of us were going to plan a ride when you got here.

let me say though, you were a scary-ass mofo. You were super tall, in a trench coat, long crazy hair, a tophat (i guess you kind of looked like Slash) and crazy spaced out teeth.

we never got to ride because we kept getting lost in the car while looking for the trail parking lot.

dude, not cool. this was a beloved pet cat. he didn't do this to disrespect the animal because he hated it. strange, yes. morbid, yes. but I highly doubt he did this out of malice for the cat.

I don't get it. You and others are laughing about a dead cat strapped to a helicopter, so why not a dead dog. That would be funny too! I mean, dead is dead. Somewhere someone needs to do this to their dog? Certainly, someone will see stuff like this and get good ideas.

Who cares if the pet's owner is strapping his dead animal to a machine out of love or hate? Physically it's still just a dead animal that isn't coming back to life. Might as well make something funny out of an inanimate dead object for everyone's laughter and enjoyment.

Yeah, but who cares? Dead is dead. If everybody is saying it is soooo funny to see a dead cat in the air, why not a dead dog?

The reason why people think the dead cat is funny is because every child has a want to kill things. Usually little bugs. It's just funny. I mean, there is even an app for the iPad that is a game to see how many bugs you can squash. That childlike want to kill little things sometimes extends to cats as you can see in this thread. People think the dead cat is funny. Well, so would be a dead dog thrown up in the air. It's like, try to bark now Fido!

I happen to like (some) cats and I don't think it's funny because I like to see dead things. It would have been funny to me if it had been a synthetic plush cat, also. I know that others posting here also happen to like cats. I think you are unique in your enjoyment of seeing other things die. That's a rather sociopathic position to take.

I don't get it. Seriously. Your first post was that you found the dead cat helicopter amusing and your wife thought it was ethically wrong. Now, you seem to change your mind when the dead animal could be a dog.

A life is a life. Dead cat. Dead dog. Dead human. Once it is dead, I don't see what the big deal is. From when we were children, there is a humor is killing little things like bugs. This is human nature. Obviously, as a person grows up we learn the difference between right and wrong. That doesn't mean we can't think it's funny to see a lifeless animal strung up in the air. It's funny. You even admit it yourself.

When you include "hate" it becomes something else entirely. Your attempts to deflect do not make it right. There is no place in my world for hate, how about yours? I am not trying to engage you in any semantics, just pointing out your use of "hate" and how it tilts the subject. Flame away.

There is this annoying little yapper dog that one of my neighbor has. He barks all hours of the day and night. Do I wish he was dead. Sure would. Who wouldn't? However, I wouldn't kill him. That's wrong. I just think it would be funny for that little doggie to get smashed by a car. Then, strung up like helicopter art. And most people agree that IS funny! Look at all the replies in this thread alone how many people thought the dead cat is funny.

I mean come on. If you had any annoying dog on your street you can't tell me that you don't wish it were dead. I am not saying to kill it. That's wrong, but you know you would wish it were dead or just got hurt so it would shut up.

apparently you've never had a little yippy dog living upstairs from you that barks all the time.

doesnt take too many nights of putting up with it before you want to strangle something.

Wow, some real tough guys in this thread. Harming animals, wishing them dead. I'll say it since no one else did. What a bunch of twatrockets.

Having been up the last two nights due to a barking dog I believe that I am at liberty to reply. At no point did I wish it was dead, rather I wished that the uncaring owner would get a clue and do something about it. Wishing a defenseless animal harm is one of the lowest things I can think of and speaks volumes of those that do wish these things.

i must be a really horrible person then because i can think of alot of things worse than wanting to strangle a little dog and its owner.

Oh come on. I am not far off in thinking about dead animals strung up to a helicopter IS funny. At least 9 out of 10 people on this forum thought the dead cat helicopter was funny. Now, we just need to get a dead dog up in the air too. How is that not funny when the dead cat is?!

    I understand what you're saying.
Its simply the way you went about it that has people thinking it sounds bad.
Based on previous posts, its sounds like you want to kill the yappy dog near your house and parade it around like a kite.
I personally dont think thats what you meant (correct me if I'm wrong though)
I believe it would be taken differently if said in person

sure, let's kill one of every animal we see so we can "string it up in the air". that sounds like something familiar....where have I heard that before?

I think your statistics are a bit presumptive. There are 342,762 people registered on this forum. By your statistics, 308,485.8 of them think the OP was funny.

While the dead cat as a helicopter is funny, killing the cat/bug/dog to "string it up" is not. That is the difference and you don't seem to be able to distinguish between the two. That is how you are coming across in this thread. Get it?

i didnt read all of these, it sounds like it became an argument as to whether this is funny or not.

my opinion is, i'm not offended....as long as the animal didnt suffer. I'm kind of in the mindset that "dead is dead" and i dont think the cat's soul is wildly offended. is this disturbing? maybe a bit. it would be like seeing your dead grandma made into a copter.

killing things for fun has always been a nono in my book. Causing an animal to suffer is a HUGE nono and you deserve all bad karma that comes your way. In this case? i see no suffering. i'm just gonna move on

Your math looks about right, Nate.

In an effort to salvage what is quickly becoming a train wreck, can we collectively STFU about yip dogs and whether Mr 'peace, love, and happiness,' bee may or may not be a sociopath? K, thanks.

Here is a video that offers more of an inside look at Orville. I just really find this project interesting from an engineering perspective, and wished there was more info about the building of Orville.

Thank you! And here is another user who thought the dead cat strung up to the helicopter was funny!

And to the other people who keep saying it is so wrong to kill an animal and then string them up to the helicopter. Uh... Hello! I never said that killing a defenseless animal is a good thing. It is not. It's wrong. However, there isn't a single one of you guys that can say you didn't think about running over that little yapping dog with your car just to shut it up. Don't lie.

i am not a fan of yippy dogs, simply because i dont find them cute. their eyes are all glassy and bugging out of their heads. that being said, i do not "prefer" them as a whole, (i like big dogs) but when i encounter one, i still pet it and would never wish harm on it. i just wouldnt own one!

as for the cat, i dont know about finding it funny....mostly just weird, but i'm not offended. This is coming from a cat lover, and that cat looks like mine!

You see! It's true. I am certain that, at least, 90% of people on this thread, thought the dead cat strung to a helicopter was downright funny. And someone on this page even had the idea to string up a dead dog to a kite to fly around at the park. Now, that would be downright ROFLMAO hilarious!

Nobody cares about a dead bug. It's small. So what. The bigger the animal, the more funny. So a big dog, dead of course, strapped to a large kite and all up in the air. I am already laughing at how that would look. And you're lying if you don't think that would not be funny, especially considering most thought the dead cat was funny.

Agreed, and I would take the distinction a little farther and say that the dead cat's owner turning it into a helicopter is funny. Using a random dead animal would not be funny to me.

But the fact that this guy had a cat, apparently really liked the cat, and apparently thought this would be the best, most dignified way to memorialize his beloved pet, is funny (albeit very wierd). The guy seems to have done it as a respectful and affectionate gesture, which changes the whole scenario. Much different than stringing up a yippy dog that someone hates.

Once an animal is dead, it's dead. And I never advocated killing defenseless animals and I wouldn't ever kill a pet. That isn't to say that I wouldn't want to wish some loud dog would just shut up and die.

You guys would be lieing if you said you didn't want to kill some dog if it was loud and constantly noisy. For instance, if my neighbor can't control his dog yapping at all hours of the day and night, what am I to do? You know you would want to take a baseball bat and whack the crap out of that dog just to shut it up for good.. Admit it, but just because you wish for that to happen does not mean that you would do it. Then, and only then, you do your funny memorial and string up Barky the dog up to a kite. Now THAT would be funny!

How do you know what I think or would want? Do you just assume everyone else thinks the same way you do? You can state your opinion as to your own beliefs, eg., I wish the dog next door would die, and I don't feel bad about it, but saying that we all would wish the same as you is taking it a little too presumptive.

Have you tried ear plugs or maybe asking the owner to correct their dog? Have you once maybe for a split second thought about what you are typing before you hit reply? Just something to think about there motivator.

I saw this thread and thought "dang. 4 pages for the helicopter cat? Really?" I skimmed through and I gotta say bee, you really come off like a bit of a sociopath. Someone needs to check that guys backyard. It could hold the answers to all the missing people reports in his area.

You can't tell me that if some neighborhood brat is annoying and their parents don't discipline them that you wouldn't want to beat the crap out of them. I am not saying that you or I would do something like that. I wouldn't. It's wrong, but you'd be lying if you say that you wouldn't want to kick somebody's ass would is bothering you.

I do not condone the killing of defenseless animals, unless I want to eat them, wear their skin, transplant their organs into humans, or conduct scientific research on them, any other reason is wrong. Oh, and if someone named them or they are cute then its wrong also.
