    Day walker rant

Any one else have an issue with people out for a walk on your normal trails? This are not hikers because they are usually dressed inappropriately, jeans, flip flops ect. Maybe it's because I normally ride granite bay after work but these people usually take up the whole trail, have no idea whats going on around them and have no idea what on your left means. They are usually accompanied by at least one other person and a dog either not on a leash or on a leash thats so long they have no real control of them. My favorite is when the off leash dogs start to follow me down the trail, if the owner is a cute girl I will stop I'm all for people getting out there and enjoying the outdoors but please pay attention because you are probably not the only out out there.

Rant over, just had to get it off my chest since I ran into and abnormally high number of these yesterday.

Schedule your ride(s) for times when the walkers aren't as prevalent.

I've tried but I can't find a set pattern to when they are out there the least other than early morning but that doesn't work for me during the week.

equivalent: unless your in full spandex, shaved, w/ clip in's your not a real cyclist.

yeah there are idiots out there but there's no reason to get dressed up to hike a trail for 30-45 minutes on your lunch break.

They just completed a bike trail/path that goes right by my house. There is a very large learning curve for the other people walking in the trail. These are all people who haven't had to deal switch cyclists like they do now. They walk 4 or 5 across, let little Jonny loose on his scooter/tricycle, and let Fefe run wild to the end of the fishing line leash, while pushing a stroller, texting and drinking their Starbucks. So annoying.

    solution: loud horns/bells.

Flexi leashes should be banned outright. I was warming up for a 5k run on Saturday that used the local MUT, and some lady walking her two little dogs wasn't paying attention to the dogs and let them come right up to me at fully extended leashes and they nearly tripped me. I was already well into the grass off the trail to avoid the lady and give her dogs some space.

and she wasn't just out randomly walking the dogs, either. This particular run had a dog walker group that started 3min after the main pack of runners to avoid conflicts. the race organizers should have prohibited flexi leashes and required 6ft (or shorter) flat leashes. most folks with dogs had enough sense to avoid the flexi leash.

Always makes me laugh when people go out to have some fun, get a ride in, and end up get angry and bent outa shape because people are in their way. The nerve of some people. Jeez. I mean these people don't have an eye behind their heads? That's it I'm pissed, I had to slow down 3 times today, LOL

You should be happy for anyone you see out on the trails as long as they are not breaking any laws.

Look at it this way, they could be at home sitting on their ass eating Doritos and Ice Cream, getting fat.

Those you are seeing that fit the description you've given may be starting a fitness program/routine.

I thought you were talking about ginger kids when you mentioned day walkers.
See Im a day walker, so I was laughing when I read the thread title.

Heres a definition I found in the urban dictionairy
A person who possesses extremely red hair and pale skin but does not have any freckles. In other words, a firecrotch minus the facial decoration.

If you live in a city and you ride close-ish to it, you need to get over the other people who also live in your city and also want to go outside.

I got a bell recently (even started a thread about it) and really like it.

I've been a trail bell sporting guy myself for several years now. It makes a difference every single time I ride.

I screamed past a couple of hot little country girls today, and made a point to loop back around and roll past em again- slower they smelled a hell of a lot better than my funky self did, and looked damn good in the daisy dukes haha

having to use snowmachine trails as connectors, all of a sudden aint so bad...
