As long as we're dealing with '70s musicians, I've worked with an Al Stewart, Jon Anderson and Tony Kaye. Not the most uncommon names in the world. I bet every Megacorp has a few of each.

My sophomore year in college I lived across the hall from Andy Griffith.

And my full name is somewhat prominent in a movie and its sequel. About every two or three months, someone who doesn't know me sees my name and they say 'Oh my god, I've seen xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx!'

Those are fictitious names, not real people, but I felt compelled to share.

Funny you mention that, because I get that too, along with a racist/chauvinistic/republican redneck civil war re-enactor dude (whom Iíve been mistakenly associated with before on a couple job interviews via telephone), a Sacramento (CA) state world heavyweight competition weightlifter dude, and an actually Hollywood actor.

I share a first and last name with a former all pro NFL wide receiver. One time I was renting a car. After checking in, I went out back to wait for my car to be issued. A young guy with a huge excited grin comes racing around the corner frantically searching the lot, but I was the only one there. You could just see him crash back to earth when he realized I wasn't his hero. He barely spoke 3 words to me--didn't even try to sell me the insurance.

My last name is I guess not all that common. Seems common to me. It's the same name as a large company, so people always used to ask "are you related to _" when I was in school and I'd always ask them if they thought I'd be in some crappy public school if I were.

I know a guy named Bill that lives on Clinton street.....

I have the same last name as a famous football player on the Cardinals, he's black and I'm not but on occasions I'll have people ask if I'm related.... I just lower my head and feel sorry for the person.
