50 years ago today the nerds found a reason to procreate. All they had to do was find one of the opposite sex that would agree.

Which wasn't hard, apparently. That's how you and I and the rest of us got here, silly.

Gene Roddenberry had a good reputation already as a writer in radio and television, primarily westerns (regular screen writer for Gunsmoke), and a few sci-fi. His heart was sci-fi. Afficionados of early radio serials and the Gunsmoke radio series will recognize some of his western storylines recycled into Star Trek episodes.
Of course, some of his early radio scripts were recycled ancient Greek plays...

Yes. Most TV series have a pilot movie. Kung Fu did also.

Nope, it's more like a mini-movie. Generally 2-3 times longer than an "episode".

Actually you are both right. Most have episodes but some have movies. I hate it when I have to break you two apart.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled nerd talk.

Tom Hanks is in a new Pilot movie.

Does this mean there's gonna be a tee-vee show about a guy who lands airliners in rivers?

    Stranger things have happened.

The Brady Bunch started out as a show without a pilot show.

Later on it became a movie.

Not that there's much correlation there but I've got a bad headache and that's all I could come up with to defend Hawgs response.

They'd be hard pressed to get him to take the roll these days.
