    Homemade powerbars

    Anybody have any homemade recipes for power bars or flapjack type snacks for taking with you while out trail riding..??

    Also any tips on what to eat and what not to eat while riding..??

    Yes I have two I really like. The first I got off a dyi issue of Bike years ago and the second is one I developed on my own by combining that recipe with a favorite healthy banana nut muffin recipe to make healthy banana nut power bars.

    Here's the adapted banana nut bar recipe:

    1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
    2 cups rolled oats
    1/2 t baking powder
    1 t cinnamon
    1/3-1/2 cup ground flax seed or oat bran
    1/2 t salt
    3 ripe bananas mashed
    1/2 cup shredded coconut
    1 cup walnuts broken up
    1 egg
    1/2 cup raw honey
    1/2 cup coconut oil
    2 T organic (no sugar added) peanut butter.
    1/3 to 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

    Directions are the same as the Oatmeal nut raisin power bars on my blog.
