    WNC Grand Prix
So there are a series of road races the weekend of July 30th to benefit children at risk programs in WNC. So please pass this onto your roadie friends if you have'em. There is however one segment that might appeal to those of us without road bikes while allowing us to help kiddos in need. The Hill Climb race is on Friday July 30th at 5:30pm and consists of going up Old 70. Been there done that? Sure you have!

As it stands you meet in Old Fort at a parking lot and they shuttle you to the start. After, they shuttle you back, wait, what!?! So, I wrote the coordinator and he will allow for some adjustment.
    If interested, register online($20).
We will jump on the shuttle in "downtown" Old Fort and then pedal Mtn bikes up Old 70 as part of the event, then skip the shuttle down, ride Kitsuma!, and then pedal the 3 or so flat miles back to the cars. You in? Ec

The money raised from the WNC Grand Prix cycle races will be used for children-at-risk programs in Western North Carolina. http://wncgrandprixcycling.org/

Is this still happening on Friday? More importantly is the mountain bike class happening or do I have to dust off the road bike?

Yeah, it is happening this Friday. Unfortunately there is not a separate class for Mtn bikers but rather permission to skip the shuttle down and those who came will gather and ride Kitsuma. This will allow non-roadies to participate and it will be a nice donation for a good cause and... a Friday night downhill (for the children of course).
Don't have one myself but you could certainly bring a road bike and compete for one of the purses. Will see how it goes on my knobbies :D

    Hope to see you there.
