    Wilson Ridge

What is the better direction to ride Wilson Ridge? N to S, or S to N?

    Thanks.

I assume you mean Upper Wilson/21 jumps? If so then North to South

No. All parts. I got it sorted out. Looked at TrailForks elevation profiles. I was putting together a 20-25 mile ride.

The lower section isn't really rideable. Part of the middle section was reworked. Prepare for an adventure if you want to try to do the whole thing.

Thanks. That's what we were going for. Similar to Black Mountain trail in the Ranger district?

Not particularly similar. N to S is generally considered the preferred way I think. Middle section is probably mostly rideable with a couple of hike-a-bikes and possible some small blow down. Lower Wilson's is almost always clear and fun.

Related.... I climbed up from mortimer, took right on WR, bared right at fork down 21. The left fork had a different blaze. What trail is that?

    What color was the blaze?

Assuming you went South and rode Upper Wilson:
There are several turns but I think you are referring to Thorpes Creek. It parallels schoolhouse. You could also be referring to missing the right turn to schoolhouse connector and staying on Wilson Ridge.

Most people only even ride lower WR (i.e south of highway 90) once.

A better 30 mile ride would be the full Yancey Ridge loop and then the Upper WR to Schoolhouse loop... IMO

OK. Apparently, the right fork I took was schoolhouse connector. It ended with some stairs at schoolhouse ridge road near SH trail and had a bunch of water bars, which led me to think it was 21. Fun trail.

I figured you meant schoolhouse connector. There is another right hand turn down lower that is easy to miss. It's just an early exit onto 90.
