    What the hell?

Ok, it's time for the rain to stop. For 2018, Mount Mitchell got 139" of rain! I cant remember a week where we have not had rain in the Carolina's. Unreal.

Too much rain in the winter and spring and not enough in the summer.

Agreed. Man this weather is really f'ing with my mental well being. If this rainfall is the new norm I will have to bail.

Been road riding for sanity but that is wearing thin.

These are the times its nice having hobbies other than mountain biking.

The fishing has been amazing this Winter with so much water and warmer temps. That and my fly-tying while intoxicated has improved tremendously!

There is always something to do when it rains. Put on a rain coat and go for a hike. Better yet take a set of loppers or a machete with you and cut back the trail growth. Get that good trail Karma started early for the year.

I have had lots of time to practice the trombone lately. Did a gravel ride New Year's Day around the Tryon/Lake Summit area. It was really warm - like short sleeves warm. Gravel roads were in decent shape and there was zero traffic around the lake. The weather makes me wish I was still into kayaking.

You guys need to head over to Coldwater Mountain in AL. Riding is, and has been, outstanding. Rode 2 days at Christmas and trails were prime. Headed over tomorrow for the weekend to ride again. Trails are great. If you need trail conditions, call Wigs Wheels in Anniston for the 411. Coldwater is steep and rocky, and water runs off like a scalded dog.

5 hour drive...yeah while mountain biking is by far my #1 hobby, I got lots of other things I enjoy doing at home that don't involve 10 hours in the car. Will keep it in mind for a 3-4 day trip though if there's good camping nearby.

Combined with Oak Mtn in Birmingham, it is well worth the drive! The trails at both places are fantastic and surprisingly rocky.

I rode Coldwater a few years ago. In June - went through an entire 100 oz bladder in 3 hours. That was a really fun trail though and Anniston was a nice little town to hang out in.

Doing a gravel ride at Bent Creek with the local high school mtb team. Sounds like heading up to the parkway is one of the options (probably depends on how many of the fast kids show up).
