    What a day! Where is everyone?

    Considering the absolutely perfect weather, the Fall colors and the fact it was Saturday, I was surprised to see just a handful of riders coming down as I hiked up Green's Lick yesterday afternoon.

    Not a single other hiker, not even a starving hunting dog, during 4 hours and 11 miles as I walked down to 5 Points and back to Laurel by way of Hickory Top and Sidehill.

    My Heckler and I are condemned to gravel now, Doctor's orders, but being on the trails with hiking poles, on a day like yesterday, is still a treat!

    Everyone was at Bent Creek early Saturday morning. Hikers, bikers, runners, dog walkers, and famlies were everywhere. Great to see people out enjoying the trails!

    Saw that many on Wolf Branch yesterday early afternoon as this gorgeous weather continues. Wonder if more made it up to 5 Points than the day before?

    Maybe if we had restaurants like Portland we'd suffer crowds ;-}

    Last week I did some hiking on a rainy day in the Columbia River Gorge. An ascent to the top of 350 foot Lower Bridal Veil Falls was like the line for a ride at Disneyworld.

    Rode 12 miles at Dupont Sunday, it was crowded. Nice mix of riders, hikers, and leaf lookers.
    Happy to be riding in WNC!

    Sunday ride at Harbison in Columbia and trails were in great condition. I rode a new to me trail in Lenoir NC last night called Zack's Fork. This trail was designed by the same folks who built Kerr Scott trails like Warrior Creek. Good for night rides and in both directions. Only 3 miles long but with multi laps and great flow you won't be disappointed. If you are in the area its worth a ride.
