    Trails near Statesville?

Going to be spending an evening somewhere on the I-77 corridor between Statesville and Charlotte. Are there any good trails in the Statesville / Mooresville area or should I just plan to head down to Charlotte?

Yep, Lake Norman State Park is great! Also check this link to see all of the other options for Charlotte area rides: Tarheel Trailblazers.com - Charlotte's Mountain Bike Club!

Lake Norman is great... 30 miles of pavement smooth trail. Great on a mtn. bike or CX bike too.

Also there is Signal Hill in Statesville...

    And Big Leaf Slopes park...

Just make sure you check status on the Tarheel Trailblazers web site.... they close when it rains... which seems to be every damn day recently...30-45 minutes farther down 77 and a little ways on the 485 outer loop in the US national white water center... they have 30ish miles of trails... some more challenging than LNSP and they have beer.... if you happen to be going on Thursday then definitely go to USNWC, it's river jam.
