    Starens Branch Trail

Pass the markers for this trail quite a bit when riding Avery Creek area. Anyone familiar with the trail? Stickers on marker say 'most difficult' which has me curious as to what lies ahead.

its ok... About the same as Sycamore really.

If you havent ridden it give it a go. It can be a nice way to mix up a ride if you always do Sycamore.

Thanks. I'll give it a go next time. Interestingly it is not on the Nat Geo map. Trail is there, but no label. I'll have to look on the Pisgah Map Company map tonight. I appreciate the input.

This trail has been there for decades without a name. The section open to bikes is very short, it connects Sycamore to Thrift Cove. The "high" end is a few hundred yards down from the Grassy Road/Thrift junction, the "lower" end at the tight switch back on the west leg of Sycamore, right at the end of downhill run coming from the Grassy Road/Sycamore trail junction. It's a good fitness gage going up and good way to connect to Thrift/Lower Black but I prefer to do the very rooty runout of the last mile of Sycamore back to 276.
