    Saturday Concerns

Ready for the Big Event. I mowed the yard today.

What choices do I have now!?!

Slow float the river with a growler or do a bike ride and hope Pappas & Beer is still there?

I'm looking for a St. Bernard landing on the lawn with a keg of Wedge porter.

FB slow float (try not to paddle) from Long Shoals to Hominy. Water was up to a nice level. Only white water is a couple of shoals you have to navigate. It was a wine cruise for my friends - they both took unscheduled dunks - pretty funny. I was the designated driver, so water/tea for me. My sin was discovering the places I missed with sun screen too late, Ouch.
Bikes/boats/beer. Gotta love where we live!

    cool M-U-M.

do you do any whitewater runs? or, just booze floats?

i'm from SC originally - i live in Boise, Idaho now (for 8 years). we'll be landing back that way at some point in the future...

all our family is still back there.

i spent a lot of time in Pisgah in college.

so...anyway - i'm into rafting now (Idaho has no shortage or whitewater)...

biking, rafting - my two things...

so, i'm curious about class III/IV type stuff within a "easy" driving distance from asheville proper...

    thanks, Cary

I'm past my prime for whitewater trips. Lakes and slow floats are about all I can muster. Do the usual searches for WNC - Hot Springs, Green River, Natahala, etc.. Lots of biking boaters around here to meet up with.

    This is a fun route:

I don't raft but I have been told that the Green River narrows is wicked.

Section 9 of the French Broad between Walnut and Hot Springs has a few pretty good rapids. At high water it can be pretty intense. At low water, you have to drag your boat the last couple of miles. I haven't kayaked in a while. WNC is not quite Idaho when it comes to rivers, but there are some good runs around. If you are into hair-boat creeking, the Green River is the place to be.
