To clarify, the attack did not happen at FATS but at Modoc/Stevens Creek which is about a 15 minute drive from FATS just off of rt 23 in Modoc, SC. Still a little nerve wracking since these are my local trails.

That's terrible, and I can think of a few places in WNC that there is likely a similar mindset. Wish he had left out (although don't blame him for thinking it) that he would never go out there again. The three will see that and think mission accomplished.

So maybe the answer is to entice them to a rematch, and have the law as backup in hiding..

Hopefully they catch these guys. I have ridden alone many times in the area, but never Modoc / Stevens Creek. Hopefully FATS, Bartram, Keg Creek, etc are still safe?

So what the fvck is in season in SC right now that would bring hunters in to the woods anyways?

I don't carry in the woods, but I couldn't blame a rider for doing it. Especially if he/she is riding alone.

Rides perfectly right behind Jersey zipper, and doesn't move or shift. Also comes with attachment for one reload.

    Stay safe out there.

This is probably just bizarre enough to be from the USA, but 3x relative midget hunters in camo necking and assaulting a big dude who fights them off and then is not shot and all his stuff is still there next day...... Sniff sniff

Yes, that has been troubling to me. Why in the heck, did those assailants, trash his bike, at the very least? Still reminds us to be careful out there.

There's a lot of people thinking that. You can read the police incident report here: McCormick Incident Report

The story is crazy and doesn't all add up. But I also can't imagine why it would be made up, made up and commited enough to call the cops and everything.

Modoc is my favorite local trail, and God forbid this really happened, I'll still ride out there.

Huh, so the biker was strapped was well, as the police report indicates that he fired back with glock after they fired at him as he was running away. I believe I might have shot the dude trying to take off my pants, but I guess then he was have been shot for sure then.

Something does sound a little off...or a lot off; like something that started as consensual went wrong, but who knows?

If it did happen, I think it was probably just some bored rednecks playing a prank and too stupid to see the ramifications of their actions.

But who knows, there are some weird ass people out there.

Yeah always better to be safe than sorry, kind of one of those situations where it's better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

I dunno, thats a pretty unbelievable story. And I mean all of it. Any group of three men will rarely all be short guys, the tallest listed was 5'8". At 9pm its pretty dark in the woods. 3 hunters laying in wait for a trail ambush with trap set and concealed, would most likely bug out after dusk. And thats if hunting game, if hunting humans like the story relates, I would expect them to bug out earlier unless there is a large night riding presence and that they were aware of it. (My non-biking friends have no idea I ride at night, and when they find out it blows their mind).
The sexual assault aspect sounds straight out of Deliverance, but apparently was unsuccessful.(?)
A hunter would not "fire a shot at him". These would have been good ol' boys with excellent gun skills and a realistic view of firearms. They would not threaten him with a gun, but by beating his ass. If they fired a shot, it would have been to bury him.
Then of course he fights off three armed men, and dodges bullets as he flees through the trees, while three trackers on their home turf are unable to stop him. They also leave his bike and equipment right where it fell, without at least destroying it, or hiding it... whole thing smells fishy.

My guess is that this is a complete fabrication, eithre by the media to drum up fear, or by the biker to gather support in his or her personal vendetta against hunting. Perhaps they are militant vegans? Or maybe the guy has an overbearing wife, he crashed and ate it hard, and knew the wifey would put and end to his riding days after she saw his face, so he made up the story to justify his injuries to her.

We'll all be feeling real stupid if this turns out to be true. Meanwhile, here is the scene that inspired it all:

I can see how this can be seen as fabricated. However, there is not much to do in Modoc, SC other than sit at home or get in trouble. To me it is not impossible that the Modoc Short Mans Club saw the guy in the parking lot and leave on his bike. They knew he would be coming back so they took a few more drags off the whiskey bottle and had a few beers while they waited in the woods for him to come back. Once they heard him coming they got into position and what happened happened. As far as shooting and not hitting; maybe they were out to scare him all along. You can beat the **** out of someone and get away with. You will usually be found if it's murder. Modoc is a backwoods rural place. I've been to it, through it, and don't live too far away from there but I would not want to stay overnight. Hope they catch the people responsible.

Well it depends on the holster too, but not something that is typical for conceal carry. Yeah the baby glock pistol ultra concealed.

Seems plausible but I'm not sure. I lived in NorCal for a long time where the Nat Forests are seemingly jam packed with pot growers and generally the trails are safe. They don't want to call attention to themselves.
