PSA- Get it while the getting's good

Rode Heartbreak Ridge solo yesterday spur of the moment and let me tell you, it was DIALED! Great lines all over the place, nice grippy tread, blowdown free, and my only company was a huge rattlesnake I had to manual at the last second. Then I poked him with a stick for awhile.

Heartbreak's closure always sneaks up on me because I always remember it being Oct 15th like the other Pisgah seasonal trails, but it actually closes Oct 1st. Get out there before then, we don't want to piss off the bear hunters who so graciously share access with us.

Is messing with a rattlesnake while in the woods alone a good idea? Reminds me of that beef jerky commercial.

    I'm a trained professional...

Used to wear the flat Smoky the Bear hat and green/gray polyester outfit with a badge and everything!

And a point of clarity- Heartbreak itself doesn't close, just Old Toll Rd. You can still hit HBR from the Parkway all year long.

I only bust out that outfit for the wife to indulge her "lost hiker rescue" fantasy.

Depends on how fast you can motor up Curtis Creek and the Parkway - IIRC it took about 5.5 hrs last time I rode it starting at the Geyser, but I'm slow. You can shorten it by a few miles and start at the bottom of CC but that cuts out a lot of fun ST.
