dang, I was just thinking about a whole Swank ride

I rode butter / long branch last week and it was in fine shape, 225B is overgrown but there's a ton of berries to snack on up there.

what time? from Cove Creek or the Hatchery?

I should have just PMed you two to see if you wanted to ride, cause the rest of the users of this forum are just posers.

10am from the Fish Hatchery was my plan.

    I'm a poser

I can't find a home for my boy during the day tomorrow so I'm out. I'll keep trying, maybe I can join the route somewhere later...

I rode the fist half of the swank course today. Bring body armor for the thorns on 225B. Butter Gap is in great shape - no trees down at all. Stopped by the Pisgah Tavern for some cold ones afterwards. Much fun was had today.

dude, what are you thinking, it is waaaaayy too early to start training for Swank, you are gonna be soooo overtrained when November rolls around, it' s not even cold enough to train right. that's so screwed up!

    Sell your kid

You should have thought about that years ago. Now look what you did to yourself.

    hatchery> 475> Davidson River Trail>475>Road to Longbranch>Longbranch>That dirt road>Kissee Creek (thorns, yes)>Farlow Gap>Daniel Ridge (right down stairs)>That other dirt road> Davidson River Trail> 475> Car > Burrito and Corona @ Mamacita's.

Throw in some food stops, an amazing swim, a hike a bike down and up Farlow not a bad day. Wish I cleaned more of Farlow. i was scared. Reminder that Swank is probably tougher than ORAMM somehow!

We got out of there before the bulk of the rain came, got in 20+ miles, great turn-out.

    Pace Maker

I did the ride too. I left from Daniel Ridge parking lot at 10AM and looked over my shoulder every now and again but never got caught. However, I did get caught by the rain. Going up Caney Bottom at the end of the day, going up FSR to top of upper Daniel, and then fortunately right after reaching my car. Thatss when the moonson hit. At least my bike is clean.

After Swanking the past 2 years, I have about decided that paying money to ride Farlow is the very definition of insanity. I'm not sure which is worse, the going up part or the going down part. I'm too slow to enjoy the climb and too chicken to enjoy the downhill. Do you think they would notice if I skipped that whole part of the race?

If you go slow enough they'll make sure you miss that part of the race!
