    Ppmbar

Me and this other dude are drawing 5 past PMBAR cp's from a hat tomorrow and doing four of them.

Meet us at 9am at The Hub parking lot if you want to play.

Don't ask me about rules or anything else. It's just an excuse to do a stupid ride.

Yes, it's too late to start training for this. I recommend you begin drinking heavily if
    you have not already.

The Hub not only does NOT approve of this, they have no idea. Sorry, Sam. We just
thought of it six minutes ago.
Yeah, it's strange. But oh well.

Um, how are you planning on doing this ride? I hear that part of Pisgah is closed to bikes

Edit: The Hub has a pub, the bottom of Black does not.

Why the Hub? PMBAR starts at the bottom of Black so that's where we're gonna be @ 9

edit: Just saw the post about Black being closed to bikes...so we're gonna leave the bikes on the cars and walk all day

I like to finish as close to draft beer as possible. This is ppmbar.

And didn't I say no questions?

Maybe that's a good idea. though. I don't want to piss off Sam when like three
people show up and totally flood his parking lot.

I'll let you discuss it with driftwood. He should be along shortly.
Yeah, it's strange. But oh well.

I just realized that it'll be just us because everybody else will think this is some sort of poisson d'avril BS.

    Okay, Okay, Okay.

In true ppmbar fashion I have officially moved the start to Smoker's Cove even though I officially have nothing to do with this.

Anyone who wants to play with us be ready to ride at 9. The CP's will be drawn shortly there after.

I'm sure tons of people are going to join us. I mean we are giving well over 12 hours notice.

I've picked 11 cp's from previous pmbars (there has been some consolidation) and have picked one cp of my own [] . All 12 will go in a hat and 5 will be picked. The first two are mandatory and you have to get at least 4. Anyone who wants to stay out there long enough to get 5 is way more ambitious than me and wins whatever there is to win. If you have something to prove, bring a camera but nobody is going to check it or even be there when you get back. And that is that.

    Easy enough.

    Who's in?

OK, I'm home from Elmo's and all likkered up.

The Gearsquish is on the rack, and I've got bleach and a multi-tool and
a fistfull of surplus powergels from 2002.

See you hosers in the morning. Or not. I can't believe the magnitude
of the meh-ness I'm seeing here.

    Cowboy up, beatches !

    It's not like it's a long ride.

I'll buy a draft of choice at The Hub for anyone who goes 4 CP's or more. Except
    Driftwood.
Yeah, it's strange. But oh well.

If you are there at 8:34 please wait on us! Zach prefers warm Natty Light and I am more of a PBR light guy. If ****z shows he is gonna want some of those Y beers from up North.

Anyone know the fastest route from Kuykendall to Copperas Rock? I gotta beat Broussard!

I see plenty of people viewing this thread and it would be fun if it was just more than me and broussard so for the sake of clarity I am going to quickly consolidate the info in this thread in case anyone actually wants to join us for our Saturday fun time:

    - Yes, we are serious. Very serious, in fact.

    - 9am at Smoker's Cove on 4/2 is the time and place, just 11 hours from now. This is the same place where pmbar starts and ends, near the bottom of Black Mtn. trail. Short notice but suck it up. Don't worry, we are drunker than you.

    - CPs will be drawn shortly after 9. Basically whenever we get there. Whoever we is.

    - If you are serious expect 5 cp's very much like pmbar (theoretically, at least).

    - You are on your own. This isn't anything.

If I finish in time I'm going to the Hub for a pint, if not I'm taking my bike and going home.

I will be stuffin my camelback with turkey sammiches, beer, and whisky. I will also bring my water filter in case I run out of beer and whiskey. and brake pads. you can't do a pmbar training ride without brake pads...

mainly, i just want the free beer at the end

We have a group meeting at smokers at 9:30. Please have all this riff raff cleaned up and out of there by then. We had a route planned but if you guys are still around maybe we will cross paths or be heading similar places. See you in the woods.

Sweet! I've somehow already finished all my beer and whiskey

natehelms - There is a fair chance we'll still be milling about trying to figure out where Johnson Gap is at 9:30 in which case I apologize in advance.

Now that D_K*ntz is in that means I should actually race him and Broussard, right? (K*ntz and Broussard are pmbar partners for those of you not keeping score)

Place your bets now. I'm putting my lights on to charge

"CHIEF" or extrmtao - I see you lurking down there. I need a partner. Get up here ASAP! (and bring whiskey and beer).

Kate and her kitty say GO TO BED KIDS! You guys caused me to partially recall a song (some poor soul told me about it at the first MHTE) that I've dealt with for three hours now.

Consider this part of the training ritual: Something will get stuck in your head.

I think the only way to loose it, is to sing it/talk it/describe it to your competition and laugh when they scream: Oh no! Not that!

Edit: not just a song - any annoying "thing".

M-U-M: Yes, it's time to go to bed.

Driftwood: If you "ran out" of beer and whiskey before 10pm, you obviously aren't training hard enough for this ride. Otherwise you are intentionally trying to fool us into thinking you ran out of beer and whiskey, with the sole intent of sobering up.

    lol. I did 50 miles and got 2 cp's.

    The cp's drawn were:

    Mandatory:
The Suspension Bridge on North Mills River Trail
    Farlow Gap

    Pick two:
    Cove Creek Group Camp Sign
    Trace Ridge at Spencer
    Squirrel at Cantrell

mike r and friend are still out there, likely searching for the bridge on North Mills River Trail, good for them. The other 4 who started all got 2, with singletrackpig being the smartest by finishing first thanks to missing the 225 connector off Daniel.

It was fun. I'll likely do it again next weekend with hopes of a better draw!

Did you get more than the 2 cps?

We finished with Bennett and Zach and Dennis headed back while I headed up Maxwell Cove for the Black Mtn. light finish.

Lots of fun but I clearly need more training. So, let's do it again.

Does that mean this weekend? When and where?

We might want to pack our folding saws -- just looked at the radar, tonight is going to be a doozy! (Monday)

Well, supposedly PAS is doing trail work Saturday but I've heard nothing more about it so I'd say let's do it Saturday 4/9 at 8am sharp at Smoker's Cove. Sound good? I'll start another thread for it.

I always have my folding saw
