Places to ride in North West NC

i'm going to be spending a week near Saluda. I am not familiar with the area at all. Any recommendations of must ride trails or even some great road rides (will be bringing road bikes) in the area?

does anyone know much about the SERC race #2 in Bryson City? Thinking about doing it as i will be down there at that time.

    Saluda? Near the SC line?

Dupont and Pisgah come to mind.

    This might help. http://www.mtbikewnc.com/

There are so many good trails around that you dont really need you road bike. But there is a lot of great road riding as well. You might want to spend 2 weeks. Pisgah and Dupont are the best, but I like Bent Creek the best. There is also Paris mountain in Greenville SC. Big George Hincapie lives in Greenville. There is South Side in Spartanburg SC. Everything within a short drive. I would suggest hitting something in SC first for a warm up, then hitting Bent Creek for some fun, and then Dupont or Pisgah for an EPIC!

Saluda is Mecca for road riding in this area, if you like to climb.

Here is a que sheet for a metric century that they run from Tryon every year:

It is 2 loops of about 30 miles each, so you could break it up. It comes through Saluda at about the 32 mile mark and then again at about 60.
Friends don let friends ride road bikes.
