    Pisgah in April/May

So me and the buds are planning a trip to Pisgah this spring. I was looking to book tickets for early April but there are concerns about the weather. What's it usually like down there in April? Should I push my plans to May?

    Thanks!

It will either be cold, rainy and miserable or warm, sunny and beautiful. It's the south in the spring time. take your pick. really. there is no telling.

Actually we average more rain in May than in April. Not much more but still more.
However, Summer is our rainy season.

First weekend of April will be the PAS Spring Fling. It would actually be a good chance for you and your friends to camp for free and meet a lot of locals for trail suggestions. Also the seasonal trails are still open. It could be a little cool out but seeing as you are from Ma, I doubt it will be anything you can't handle.

Just a suggestion but honestly your chance of rain in April and May is pretty close to the same.

We go in march. I have only been once (2014) and the weather was incredible! Wore shorts almost every day except Black Mountain day...That was cold up there.

The group says they have had pretty good luck in years past with rain.

I've seen 70* sunshine in March. I've also personally seen 10" of snow above 5000' the first morning of May. YMMV

Aprils nice, but more volatile. Plus the first half of the month, you can still ride the seasonal trails.
