    Pilot Cove-Slate Rock Trail

Looking for some advice on this trail. Would it be better to climb the pilot cove side and descend the slate rock side or vice versa climb the slate rock side and descend the pilot cove side? Thanks for any help

It depends on how long of a day you want. Most people descend Slate Rock from West to East. There would be hiking with minimal reward if you climbed East to West. It would be a lot of effort to get to 1206 and only do Pilot Cove to Slate but that's just my opinion. A 2.5 hr ride would be Laurel-Pilot, left at the junction onto the connection up to Slate.

    Do both...

I usually ride up Slate and descend the vista side (right side) of Pilot Cove and then bust a right at the bottom and ride up the non-vista (left side) of Pilot Cove and descend Slate back to the car...

Slate is awesome in both directions.... Its a tough climb for sure but its mostly cleanable save a few short sections.

If you want more gnar descend the left side of PC... More flow and fun, go down the right (vista) side.

Its all super rideable except maybe the last little bit on the left side of PC as you go back up it to do Slate.

Add in Laurel/Pilot and you got a nice ride there...
    On your left!

Yup, neither direction is wrong, they're just different. Can't really go wrong.
