Pat - so does this mean that the Pisgah Stage Race is just a series of casual rides? If that's the case, I'm in.

I like your attitude. That's the way I look at all races too as casual group rides.
You can start training this Sunday.

I am Grinding on the Greenway Saturday and playing 3 hours of Easter gigs Sunday AM. I feel some serious couch time coming on Sunday afternoon. I bet I am the only guy on here that is getting paid to go to church on Sunday.

Derail # 2 on the way Anything will be better than riding up 471 or 475b or Club gap

Exactly. You tell us. If we pedal through Brevard it should make the route around 50 miles.
The choice is yours. Feel free to make the call either way will work. We can shuttle up to 6 bikes if need be.

    Start?

Are you starting at the Pisgah Ranger Station and biking this route backwards?

No we will either bike the easy 10 road miles to the start or I can shuttle up to 6 bikes to the start. Will decide that in the morning.

Good riding with you guys. I ended the day with 40.6 miles, 5,629 feet gained, and 4:28:23 moving time, reaching the cars at 3:45. Never did take the dog out. Got caught up with "yard maintenace" and bike polishing. Got to the car with 6% battery life in my gps/phone, having been at 11% at the horse stables when I considered heading up Black. Knew I was not going to crest and descend Black without the unit dying, so I stuck with the sure thing. Apparently at last book on tapes check before Club Gap I left the screen up and on and it drained pretty quick from that point forward. I did treat myself to a Dolly's cone on the way out figuring that I pretty well deserved it.

Geez, I'd hate to have to cross Black without GPS and cellular service.
Yeah, it's strange. But oh well.

I know. Your mom's text, something about coming over to "fix" something, popped up and I had no way of getting back in touch with her. That's why I quickly picked up the pace, ditched the other bozos, and am now reponding. A little hard to type in the dark and not wake her. Happy Easter! (Everything's alright at your mom's house.)

It was a pleasure meeting and riding with you today. Perfect way to spend a Sunday in Pisgah with the beautiful weather and good company! It was a nice dry run before PMBAR to dial in some stuff on the bike and pack logistics.

We snagged a basket of strawberries on the way out of the forest, they held us over until we found an open Chili's near I-26.

Look forward to seeing you in two weeks!

Wow getting a little personal. Feeling good about not joining this ride now.

You wouldn't have to have texted her if she hadn't dropped you.

Good to know you got her pond fixed up, though.

    Play nice guys

If you are looking to argue about something may I suggest debating where Squirrel Gap is located? The gap, not the trail

And Chief I would never risk descending Black from Hickory Knob without a working gps either. It would suck to get all the way up there and not be able to find any geocaches
