Are you just going to check out the top? To go hiking maybe? There are no (riding) trails off Mt Mitchell...

Lotsa room to park in Old Fort, NC right off I 40. Take exit 73 then go north on Catawba Ave and look right after you cross the creek. Park behind the old RR station.

Of course I have no idea how to get to Mitchell from there, but that's the start of ORAMM so it should be close.
When the going gets weird its bedtime.

We were just checking out the top since we had time to kill and the GF hadn't been up.

I ended up leaving the rig on the trailer at Ski country sports. They were super cool.

    That's for the ideas!

I think the OP was nice about specifying where his kit ended up. Props to Ski Country. Just sayin'... at least he did it after the fact.

FYI: To future posters - please do not include you personal phone numbers and vehicle descriptions.

Now you're cast of steel and cast aside. Broken dreams maybe, but you haven't died
