Name that road, win a cookie (Bent Creek)

I'm new and confused. Or newly confused...

There's a "Gated Forest Service Road" numbered 479F that runs from Bent Creek Road uphill past the well-fields, crossing Boyd Branch, then Ledford and on to Wolf Branch. I've heard it called "Sidehill" but that confuses it with the trails above and in fact it's the confusion that leads me to want a name for it.

For the bonus round, where's "5 Points" on the Forest Service maps?

450- it used to be a trail, running that entire length. See the map.

It was in the inventory as a road and the expiremental forest decided to return it to vehicle access in roder to facilitate forest research. THis was about 8-10 years ago and was an extremely contentious decision. Most locals still call it Sidehill because it was a true trail, bearing that name, that was super-fun and and really expanded loop options.

    I stil miss it.

5 points = Ingles Field Gap.

5 points = 4 corners, or the spot where Ingles Field and Little Hickory top intersect with North Boundary.

There is a bunch of logging equipment up at "5 corners" currently. I hope once they're done dropping all the trees up there we can at least have a nice view from the top. Hopefully they wont do too much damage.

    Thank you, all

    That's cleared up.

I tried Deer Lake Lodge this AM and found that I'd better stick to the FS roads and the trails marked easy.

I also discovered that the Forest Gods thoughtfully position bushes with thorns by all the deep muddy spots, to cushion your fall.
