    Go ride Summey Cove!

It is a fun little trail that needs to see more bicycles! The FS is looking to close it and "Trail Registers" have been placed near hwy 215 and just past Courthouse Falls to track who is using the trail. If you have never ridden Summey Cove I encourage you to go and check it out. If you have ridden it, go ride it again! And don't forget to sign the register!

It is on the Western side of the Pisgah District off highway 215 near Balsam Grove. There is parking right on 215 for it or you can drive up FR 140 and park at the top of the trail. It is also easily reachable from the Fish Hatchery. There are a lot of loop options utilizing the unimproved roads in the area and it has a back country feel that is unique to that part of the forest. Courthouse Falls on Summey Cove trail is one of the best waterfalls in NC so make sure you stop and check it out along the way. And don't forget to sign the register!

How long is the trail register going to be up. I would say having it up in the winter is not enough time for a fair trail assessment.

I have no clue how long it is going to be up, who put them up, why they were put up, what data they want or anything else... I'm just guessing it isn't a bad idea for more bikers to sign it to show use.

some good news. the FS has been finding lots of artifacts in the area.... Less likely for widespread logging in that area.

M: Were you no on the trip (late 90's) where we got a bit lost and rode that? It probably was a goat path then... I haven't been there since 2009, wow - thanks for the info drifty.
