This has got to be an effin Hallmark day.

You still got a Saturday right? An agreement with the missus has allowed me to ride all day Saturday and then taking the family to the Royal Gorge on Father's Day. Win, Win for me.

The REAL father's day will be Saturday, when we ride. Sunday will be the Hallmark father's day, when we are obliged to demonstrate our fatherly ways.

So, where is the ride on Saturday?

I'm heading out for a ride with another father on Father's Day morning. My son is too young to ride yet. Then, I'll spend the afternoon with my family.

My wife gave me the old, "Well, it is your day and you should be able to spend it anyway you like, and you shouldn't have to feel guilty about it, but I just want you to know that I'm upset you are spending the morning riding instead of with your family."

To which I replied, "Fair enough. Then instead I'd like you to get up when I usually do (5:00 am), and make me a special breakfast for my special day: eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, toast, coffee, fruit, the whole works."

After that, she thought a Sunday morning ride sounded lovely. It's all about putting things into perspective.

    Be grateful folks

My mom passed away in 1977 and my Dad passed away in 2007...so,well be grateful a bit it`s just 1 day...
However since i evidently have very, very poor swimmers i can ride Sunday without any guilt at all.
But then there is Saturday when i intend to make Gabe and Karl cry "Stop Daddy, Stop"
as we do the entire Oramm route minus Kitsuma, but then there is a possibility we will do Kitsuma 1 time at the end of the route

Funny stuff. Fathers day and my birthday. They are days when everyone wants a piece of me.

When my wife inquires on my birthday wishes, I always tell her I want everyone to leave me alone. No Cake, No presents, No parties. I just want the day to do as I please.

I think I'm getting grumpier as I get older.
The Truth is out there. Here it isThe TRUTH

To be fair, my wife is a wonderful woman who usually encourages me to go on biking trips, and my response to her was in jest. She got a good laugh out of it. I'll be spending Sunday afternoon and evening with her and our son (after my morning ride).

The avatar is either from Sanjuro or Yojimbo. Mifune plays the same character in each film, but I'm pretty sure that shot was from Sanjuro. He's one of my all-time favorite actors.

Father's Day is celebrated fully by those of us who aren't fathers.

    Gabe and Thad,

I think I saw y'all at the top of Curtis. Sorry for not recognizing you until halfway down. I got the call 2 minutes earlier saying that there would be no babysitter for my dog and that I was not going to be doing Heartbreak that day. Lots of driving, no riding.

Carowinds was hot as hell! We rode every coaster in the place. The wooden coasters are very comparable to some trail rides. At the last ride we were gonna do that day, one of the park staff collapsed on the platform and started flipping around on the ground in convulsions. I can only assume it was heat stroke. Very freaky.
