(Cue the the Theme From Rocky music)

Who says Mt Biking isn't a fat mans sport?

Just like Fatnoob, I too did Greens Lick today.

I was too beat from the climb to appreciate it and too unskilled to enjoy it but there were some grins as I successfully (mostly) negotiated mudholes, tabletops and rock gardens. Fatnoob, I know what you mean about the heart-breaking climb after Five Points! And it's overgrown/narrow!

The two experienced riders I was with (who, I have to point out were collectively 32 years younger than I) had a great time even with waiting for me at various points to catch up.

I'll gladly wait another 9 months until I have a full year of riding before I tackle it again but it was a thrill and something almost everyone getting started should at least aspire to.

    450V DC,

Awesome! That climb seems to never end!

I am heading back to Greens Lick on Saturday Morning (7:00am Rice Pinnacle Parking lot)... I figure I am going to make that a regular climb until I get enough endurance or loose enough weight to make that a simple climb.

I am bound and determined to make it to the top and have enough fuel left to really have a good time coming down that trail! One day!

Seven AM on a Saturday!?! Whatta do - work third shift? After the week I've had, I'm out...

Then again, I was never really in. Planned to PM you about your Saturday ride. Forget that.
Now you're cast of steel and cast aside. Broken dreams maybe, but you haven't died

I didn't have enough fuel left to ride back to R-P but one advantage of having my distressingly fit son-in-law along is that he made the ride and then came to fetch me with the car

I believe I'll do the circuit training recommended in your thread: Homestead and around the lake and back up Homestead a few times each day. Climbing Hard Times to South Ridge is also a great workout; not that steep but loooong.

Meeting location just got changed by my brother... 7:00 AM Boones Corner Grill for a quick bite to eat.

I must go early AM in-order to be back by 10:00... I am a new father and I must try to minimize my time away.

So I had to make sure it was as bad as I thought... So I went back and did it again today. This time we brought a few more other n00bs up there.

What a blast!... It took 2.5 hours again for the whole loop including breaks.

I love that loop. So much fun after so much pain!... Its like Yin/Yang thing.
