    Catawba Riverfront Classic

The Southern Classic Series will visit the US National Whitewater Center on June 7 with the Catawba Riverfront Classic. This annual mountain bike race is a fundraiser for the Tarheel Trailblazers. The US National Whitewater Center is great setting for the race as it offers participants and spectators the opportunity to raft, climb, or ride the Mega Zip Line, plus a great mountain bike race on a 9.5 mile loop. The US National Whitewater Center now has an all day pass for $49. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy a fun race and a beautiful day at the US National Whitewater Center.

Just a week and half away from the 2009 Catawba Riverfront Classic. The course at the USNWC is in great shape and ready for the race. We will be staging the 2009 edition of the race by the lower pond. The best place to park is the parking lots on the right, as you enter the facility. As you face the front entrance of the USNWC, walk or ride to your right and follow the road around behind the Rivers Edge Restaurant and the Zip Line down to the staging area. The road will turn to gravel right behind the zip line. You cannot see the registration, start/finish or the staging area from the parking lot.

FYI... we held our Wednesday night race out at the Park a couple weeks ago. It was pretty cool to see the people on the mega quad zip line ripping down over the water, right beside the start/finish stretch of the course.

This is rain or shine, right? I really hope it is shine. There is only a 30% chance of rain. If I drive 1.5 hr to get there I don't want to hear it is canceled when I arrive.
    Thanks

Only if we have a moonsoon like last night we will actually postpone the event. The trails should be fine by Sunday. I just came from the park and it already stopped raining and the sun is partially out. Hopefully the rain will stay away the rest of the weekend.
