    Camping at Lake Pohatawan

    I'll be in Asheville for a week or so this spring.

    I've been riding BC for years but never camped there.

    Any reason not to?

    First hand experience to share?

    Thanks,

    Eric ||

    Was at BC this past weekend but didn't camp. Looks like a great spot, though: great access to trails, BRP for road rides, and 10 min from downtown Asheville for food, brews and music. Hard to beat!

    Lake Powhatan is a great place to camp. It gets real crowded at times, though. Convenient to pretty much everything, excepting DuPont.

    Tent camped there last year in late April. Stayed during the week, and place was empty except for a few RVs. Very nice facilities. Well kept and tended to. A bit more expensive than a typical national forest campground. Think a tent site without power was around $20. Pros are Bent Creek trails are right there. Asheville is a 10 minute drive so running into town for a meal or shopping can be done without spending time driving.

    Camped there numerous times... Great sites and facilities! Ease of access to trail heads without having to ride on a busy road or get back in the car is a HUGE perk. You can still access Mills River/Trace Ridge trail head as well without the car from there...and like previous responders stated.. close to Asheville/restaurants etc(Papas and Beer is very close👍&#128077. 2 shops within a couple miles as well(Carolina Fatz and Motion Makers)👍
