So i hate to act like I am bumping this post but news like this deserves to be told.

Cape Fear SORBA, the club hosting this event, has gotten word that we have $20,000 to spend via Brunswick County to work on and do more improvements to this trail that must be spent by the end of September. What does this mean?

That means that if you thought our trails were tame...THEY WON'T BE FOR MUCH LONGER!

We have Rock Gardens (big ones), drops, berms, rollers etc all planned for this trail. Its not something you will want to miss. We expect it will soon become a DESTINATION for mtbers in North and South Carolina.

So all I have to say, is you better be there for this one.

I might be a little confused, but looking at the calendar of the Coastal Land Trust it seems that the Brunswick Family Fun Day is Oct 6. Do they have the date wrong, or are these two events not on the same weekend?

Ha, yes that date is incorrect. The date of the fun day is most certainly the 13th of October.

your post got me curious so i went to CLT site and it actually shows date as 10/12/2012

www dot coastallandtrust dot org/clteventsCLT Events - Coastal Land Trus CLT Events - Coastal Land Trust

(which is a Friday) The festivities are Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the 13th is a community mountain bike party and the race is on Sunday. Definitely rely on the links in the banners rather than CLT website for future info (imo)

Ya, I see where their Events page lists it as the 12th, but their Google calendar still has the event listed as the 6th. I'll see about letting them know they have the dates wrong.

I was hoping it wasn't actually the 13th as I'm already registered for the NC Tour de Cure's MTB ride @ CNF that day.

Cape Fear SORBA club members went to work today building a massive Rock Garden. Check out the pictures. This is the first of many improvements that will be made to the park prior to the Festival. Get excited folks, more to come (drops, wooden rollers, and more rocks!). PS: This may or may not be included in the Brunswick Brawl...

    Good job! Hell YEAH!

I am really excited about these new trails. I am spoiled with all the trails near Asheville, but used to live in Leland/Wilmington, would have never imagined mtb trails near where I used to drive past nearly every day on 133...great use of that land! kudos to you all for organizing and putting all that stuff together...can't wait to make it back to the coast to give them a ride.

    Cheers,

    @Shawn

Hello all! This information is for anyone that was wondering about camping possibilities at the fest. A local rider has graciously offered space on his property, walking distance from the park, for primitive camping.

Primitive camping next door to the festival. Limited to 8 people and 8 sites. Military showers and flushing toilet. Additional room for one school bus sized camper/rv and four more people if they have their own shower and toilet. Bring your extension cord.

If you are interested you can contact Tripp at 910-231-0209. Best part? Camping is free! It is however first come first serve.

Oh and if you guys want to see the stuff that has been built just recently at the park, we have more obstacles than last time! Check it out

And last reminder is that September 28th is the cutoff day to book a special rate with one of our partner hotels in Leland NC. Accommodation details can be found here: Event Accommodations | Cape Fear SORBA | Wilmington, NC

    Happy Trails!

I have just finished riding at Brunswick Nature Park for the first time. I was lucky to met & ride with some of the guys involved in building the trail & putting on this event. The trails are a blast to ride, the wooden structures are fun, all in all, I had a very enjoyable time.

Thanks to all that took the time to show me around!

You better get down there and pre-ride it before the event.

You ever ride down here in J-ville? Henderson Pond on Lejeune is a real good trail now too and we do weekly rides out there. The Bicycle Gallery is riding out there every Monday.

    Fat-Tire-Underground - Index

We plan to have a couple FTU guys down there for the festival.

I ride/maintain the piranha pit on cherry point mostly, I may be working out of Lejeune starting in the new year and then I'll be riding Henderson Pond more. I rode Henderson once, it was fun if a bit rooty and needing to be ridden in (it was right after it was cut).

I'll check out the FTU, we have a group of 6-8 of us that ride all the time. Oh and I would pre-ride it except I've got a brand new baby here so i'm more limited
