    Blowing Rock Area XC?

Fairly last minute planning here... we will be visiting the area next week, staying at Swiss Village right near the BR Parkway. Bringing the 29er and hope to do some biking, have never visited the area.

I found a NC High Country site online that has some trails but am having trouble matching up the locations and how far they are away from where we're staying. (First thing when I get there will be to get a local map).

Does anyone know any good XC riding near Blowing Rock? I guess Boone is close by also.

Depends how adventurous you are. The Wilson Creek area has amazing riding but if you are mid-week by yourself with no experience of the area I wouldn't recommend it. Rocky Knob just outside of Boone would be a good bet.

gotcha.. will look up Rocky Knob. Also forgot to add, I usually stop by a friendly local shop and get some tips or maybe a trail map... any recommendations for shops in the area that are friendly...to Yankees ;-)

You are more than welcome to stop by Boone Bike. Rocky Knob park is going to be the most user friendly place to ride. If you are feeling adventurous China Creek is 5 minutes from Blowing Rock.

And when you finish riding go get a beer at Appalachian Mountain Brewery in Boone. Blowing Rock is just a few miles from Boone, they are very close. There will soon be a greenway connecting the two as well!

I up Rocky Knob yesterday for a few loops, what a great park! Kudos to those local organizations that built and maintain the trails. Gonna do some road biking today, love this whole area and will definitely be back.
