    best shops AND best riding

hmm... winter in chicago has made me think it's time to move someplace warm...

so what are the highly reputable shops in the areas with the BEST riding. i'm not interested in the driving an hour to ride kinda nonsense, so please keep that in mind when recommending a good shop.

    thanks!

Are you looking for a job in a bike shop or do you just want to make sure there is a good shop close to home?

Either way the answer to your question is either of the two shops in Pisgah Forest: The Hub or Sycamore Cycles. The BEST riding in the state is one minute from either shop's door.

Asheville has several good bike shops as well but you might have to drive 45 minutes to get to the best riding.

Don't worry, as long as you stick to the Brevard/Asheville area the trails are not nonsense.

FATZ and Motion Makers (shops) are about 5 minutes from Bent Creek (trails). Good riding there as well.

    thx guys!

and yes, i'm in the industry, but too many places that offer decent industry jobs offer crap riding nearby. deserts, northern wastelands and crowded cities dominate industry locations. so it looks like going back to a shop gig might be the way to find what i want.

waterdog, assuming you have a pup, do you ever ride with him/her?

    thanks again!

Its not Pisgah but Clemson Cyclery in Clemson, SC. Issaqueena and Fants Grove is the local trails and there is over 60 miles of single track. And its only an hour away from Pisgah.

Deserts are killer for riding and not sure what you mean by northern wastelands, but there is also awesome riding in many northern states.
